Actor Zuber K Khan rose to fame with Ekta Kapoor’s popular television show Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki. At present, he is proving his menace as an actor in the film industry as well. With the versatile roles in various genres, he has managed to hook his audience tight to his work. We got in touch with him to know a few more details about his hardships, projects and journey till date. Excerpts from the interview:
Tell us about your first encounter with acting?
I did a play during my school days, it was a dancing play and later I used to dance in all the annual functions of the school. (laughs)
What was the biggest hurdle for you in the whole process?
Hurdles were many and they will always be. It’s up to you that how you face it, learn from it, overcome it and finally move on. Convincing my parents was the toughest task though. (thinks)
Acting is your passion or a mere hobby?
It’s my life! My passion, my blood, my sweat… I always follow the mantra of – Eat, Sleep, Shoot, Workout and Repeat. I don’t know anything except acting.
From TV to Bollywood, how has the transition been?
It’s been a very long journey. Both the mediums are good. After all, an actor should know his or her job, so it doesn’t matter wherever he/she is. If the performance is good, everyone will accept whether it’s TV or films and touchwood I am getting appreciations from all the mediums. It gives me immense motivation to work even harder.
As an outsider, do you feel that the industry respects ‘talent’ without being unfair to anyone?
As an outsider I feel the only difference is about chance, that’s it. Otherwise, hard work involved in doing a project is the same for both insider and outsider. It’s you who has to perform in front of the camera. As an outsider, you get fewer amounts of chances as compared to others and that is the only difference I feel. But I strongly believe talent always beats the luck. If you are hard working, you will get yourself recognized sooner or later.
Who is your role model and why?
To be precise I don’t believe in the philosophy of role model because I want to be the first and last Zuber K Khan. Having said that, I adore Shah Rukh Khan (sir), Akshay Kumar (sir) and John Abraham (sir).
Tell us about your future projects.
I have signed 3 more films. One I’m currently shooting with Navin Batra (the maker of supermodel movie) titled ‘Mirror -the reflection of life’. The second film after that is ‘Library’ in which Ashmit Patel and Kishwar Merchant will be seen on screen with me. It’s a horror drama. And the third one is the sequel of Dosti Ke Side Effects, titled ‘Dosti Ke Side Effects Phir Se’. One of my films will be releasing this year, titled ‘Black Ishq/Kaun -the mystery’. It’s also a horror film based on the life of a couple who goes for their honeymoon, which is already in the post-production stage starring me and Diana Khan in the lead.
