Indian television actress and model Adaa Khan, on her dream role, the types of projects she loves to do and why she is choosy with her work.
Adaa Khan, Tell us about the landmarks in your acting career.
Every show that I did is a landmark in my career. I will always remember every character. Naagin is something that really made an impact on my career and I am grateful to God for the same.
Adaa Khan, What is your dream role?
I have a lot of roles which are my favourites but they have already been done by the other actors. So I don’t want to repeat the same and be compared to the actors who already made a benchmark. I want to do a role which is considered as my role and people love that role of mine. So I want to be appreciated and set that benchmark for myself rather than doing something that somebody has already done.
Adaa Khan, People in the industry say that luck makes all the difference in any actors’ career. What is your take on this?
I think your talent gets you to work but luck plays a pivotal role at the same time. So I think luck, hard work and talent altogether help you grow as an actor.
Have you been choosy about your work?
I have been choosy about my roles and refused many of them. The role has to excite me, I don’t like regular roles, I like doing something different which people love. Moreover, the character should help me challenge myself and if it gives me sleepless nights, it is worth my time. Such roles help you grow as an actor and I love doing that.
How far looks play a role in the success of an actress?
Looking good is important but definitely depends on the kind of role you are doing. So if you are doing a role like gaav ki chori then definitely you have to be dull. In my opinion, you don’t need to be good looking to be a good actress. I think it’s a myth. You can look as mad and still do good acting.
Any advice for aspiring actors?
If people want to go for acting courses then they can go for but it. But, I personally believe that practical knowledge is the best that you can get from the experience on the sets. I feel that every day is a learning experience for me. So, I learn every day from directors, senior actors and I grow every day as an actor.
