Meet Inderjeet Singh Banga, owner, Pirates of the Grill, a bright restaurant that goes against the clichéd fine dining family restaurant concept and brings in an element of meaningful surprise in the dining experience. His latest two brands Prankster and Pra Pra Prank are two of the most successful brands in India. Prankster takes pride in introducing itself as India’s First Food & Brewery Campus, inspired from college life; its food campus brings to you the university that is reminiscent of a good old time. Pra Pra prank is a high-energy modern day playful brassiere with the concept of playfulness coming through in cuisine and space. His has been recently awarded as ‘Restaurateur of the year’ by India’s most reputed Times and Food Nightlife award.
How do you balance your work life and professional life?
It’s very important to keep both the things separate. I swear by my rule of not taking work at home, and not bringing home at work which keeps my life balanced. It’s also important to have ‘We time’ with the family. Keeping day off with your family and making sure you take vacations in a year to spend time with your family keeps you charged as at the end of the day, happy faces of your family are the main motive to work.
One good thing about your profession that keeps you motivated.
Food is such an endless dynamism of our business, the more you experiment, the more your product gets evolved. The wish of surpassing my customer’s experience each time keeps me motivated. Also, one thing I really like about my business is every day I come across so many people from different spheres of work having vast knowledge, their experiences and stories evolve me as a person.
What’s your crisis management strategy at work?
I simply swear by famous quote- ‘Survival of the Fittest’. As a restaurateur, my aim is always to give my customers the best. We do not compromise at all in our offerings, and our this attitude makes us pass the entire crisis we face.
What’s your mantra for life?
Live and let others live.
Rapid Fire
Source of happiness: Satisfaction of walking on the right path
Insecurity in life: Losing my self-control
Success in one word: Work life balance
Failure in one word: Stagnation
Spirituality for you: Gratitude
Fitness for you: Way of life
How you distress: Driving my convertible sports car with my daughter
Risk taker or full proof planner: A planner who always takes risks
