Gigi Hadid Walked Her First-Ever Prada’s Runway Show in Milan Fashion
If you think that one of the it-models in this decade, Gigi Hadid, has already walked most of the fashion shows, you are wrong. The eldest of Hadid siblings finally walked in Prada’s runway show for Menswear fall/winter 2019 collection during Milan Fashion Week. It’s a proud moment for her as the 23-year-old model shared it on her Instagram. “Just when you think more dreams couldn’t come true… So honoured to walk @prada FW ’19 tonight,” she says. In one of the men’s collection which was inspired by “Frankenstein” to “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”, Gigi modelled a blue shirt dress with crystal embellishments, a black corset worn over the top with creeper shoes and mini bags. Her Prada’s runway debut followed the release of Prada’s SS19 campaign with Gigi as the new face.
Breitling Captures Its History in Its Capsule Collection Debut
Swiss high watchmaking brand, Breitling, debuted its first capsule collection, Navitimer 1 B01 Chronograph 43 TWA edition, inspired by the Swissair and Navitimer 1 B01 Chronograph 43 Pan Am edition which honours a true American legend, Pan Am. Breitling CEO Georges Kern says, “We are introducing these Airline Editions in a new capsule collection that is produced for a limited time and consequently in a limited volume, but the watches are not numbered. With these capsule collections, Breitling aims to tell specific stories rooted in the history of its core collection. This distinguishes them from our limited editions, which will retain their original intent: to be limited to a small, fixed number of watches.”
Claire Waight Keller Redefines Modernity in Givenchy’s Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2019 Collection
At the couture’s fashion week in Milan, Artistic Director Clare Waight Keller injected modern elements for Givenchy’s haute couture spring/summer 2019 collection. As her third couture collection, Keller wants to create a new look for couture pieces that neither heavily derived from the Givenchy’s archive nor brand new, but stay in her own course when she started her first collection for the French fashion house in 2017. “[It’s] about really starting fresh,” she said to WWD.com after the show. “Really cleaning the house. I wanted to start with nothing, and then put incredible colour in it, incredible techniques, all about silhouette, architecture, structure and just beauty.” Thus, the collection blends her signature of structured men’s silhouette with the strong shoulder, eccentricity in using latex material, yet beautifully done by finishing it all with touches of clean cuts, proportions, and charming details like fringes, feathers, and sequins.
Virgil Abloh’s First Campaign for Louis Vuitton’s SS19 Menswear Collection
In June 2018, Artistic Director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear collection, Virgil Abloh, debuted his collection for the French Maison in spring/summer 2019 which was inspired by values of diversity. Now, Louis Vuitton just released the campaign which divided into three chapters. The first one is entitled Infancy, Childhood, and Adolescence. The second one is The Painter’s Studio, and the third one is School Teens. The first two chapters were captured by fashion photographers Inez & Vinoodh, while Raimond Wouda made the third chapter. “I wanted to make something that is universal and human at the core,” as quoted from Vogue. “Inclusive and dense, something that has gravity. So, I decided I was going to focus the campaign on boyhood, not menswear. What makes men? The different stages in one’s life, from infancy all the way through teenager, adolescent, young adult to adult,” says Abloh. The spring/summer 2019 menswear collection is already available online. Hedi Slimane’s Manifesto in Celine’s Menswear Fall/Winter 2019 Collection
Debuted Celine’s menswear collection at Milan Fashion Week, Artistic Director Hedi Slimane took his reminiscence of “London Calling” and plenty indie Brit music influences into an array of young lads with a sharp taste of suits and off-the-concerts looks. “I spent a few months in England in the fall building the show, and going to a lot of concerts while street casting. I photographed crack cloud collective on stage in London in October, and their music was clearly the right sound and energy for this collection-it had almost an experimental no-wave feeling to it,” says Slimane. All the looks are completed with Slimane’s finishing touch of creating the idea of a Celine classic bowl haircut for the inaugural show and campaign.
