When it comes to beloved actresses in Hollywood, Anne Hathaway most definitely tops our list. Yes, it is, in part, because we will always see her as Amelia Mignonette Grimaldi Thermopolis Renaldo, Prin-CESS of Genovia, but that’s hardly the only reason. After all, Anne has transformed quite a bit since she first rose to fame — and we’re not just talking about the A-lister’s looks.
In 2001, audiences fell in love with Anne after playing Mia Thermopolis in The Princess Diaries. At the time, she was just 18 years old and yet, she could hold her own costarring in a film with Julie Andrews. Needless to say, she quickly made a name for herself.
After that, Anne would go on to land other notable roles in movies like Ella Enchanted and Brokeback Mountain. It wasn’t until 2006, however, that she appeared in her next major part. That’s right, ladies and gentlemen, we’re talking about The Devil Wears Prada.
The now-classic film is based on Lauren Weisberger’s novel of the same name and follows the life of Andy Sachs, played by Anne, and her monster boss, Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep. Honestly, if you haven’t seen this movie by now … we have no words for you. It’s a lesson in integrity, knowing your worth and of course, fashion!
When the Brooklyn native isn’t starring in a major motion picture, she acts as a dedicated wife and mother. Anne married actor and businessman Adam Shulman in a traditional Jewish ceremony in Big Sur, California, in September 2012 — and the pair have been going strong ever since.
The happy couple welcomed their first child, son Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman, in March 2016. Just over three years later, she revealed she was pregnant with baby No. 2 via Instagram. “It’s not for a movie … #2,” the actress wrote before addressing the tough road to pregnancy. “All kidding aside, for everyone going through infertility and conception hell, please know it was not a straight line to either of my pregnancies. Sending you extra love.”
In November 2019, the proud mama gave birth to her second child, son Jack Shulman.
