Koh Samui was on my bucket list of destinations I wanted to visit for years. I remember I had a picture of the Four Seasons Koh Samui set as my screensaver for years, one of those postcard perfect dream destinations! The dream came true and here I was, ticking off Koh Samui from my bucket list. Here is my list of things to do in Koh Samui.
Hin Ta and Hin Yai Rocks
Behind every formation there’s a story waiting to be told. The Hin Ta and Hin Yai Rocks are one of those fascinating formations with an interesting story. The rocks are also referred to as Grandpa Ta and Grandma Yai, and if you look closely you will see that they resemble the male and female genitals.

The legend which explains the formation of these rocks is actually a tale of tragedy which is explained on a sign board which can be found next to the site.
An old couple by the name of Ta Kreng (Grandpa Kreng) and Yai Riem (Grandma Riem) who lived with their son in the southern province of Nakhon Si Thammarat, one day decided that since their son was of a certain age it was time for him to get married. They set off to the neighbouring province of Prachuap Khiri Khan, to meet the bride to be. Unfortunately they came across a storm, and never made it to the shore. They turned into rocks to prove to the parents of the bride to be, of their true intentions.
Namuang Safari Park
We had booked an Exclusive Safari Tour to spend half-day at the Namuang Safari Park. The visit began with a 15 minute elephant ride. You can actually purchase some baby bananas for the elephant. Afterwards there was a baby elephant bathing show and performance.
Part of the program was also to watch the monkey get the coconuts while a local man showed the process of how the coconut flakes are made.
Next was a crocodile show where the performer had put his head in the mouth of the crocodile, you can see the whole performance in the video below.
Afterwards we also had an opportunity to follow a live cooking demonstration where they prepared a coconut chicken dish and the Khao Neeo Mamuang dessert which is a sweet sticky rice with mango.

Namuang Waterfall II
The Namuang Waterfall II is one of Samui’s main attractions. It is located inside the Namuang Safari Park. We were taken there with a 4×4 Jeep. Some of the visitors were swimming. Actually the best time to visit the waterfalls is between the months of September and November, when they are in their full flowing glory. 
Enjoy an evening cocktail in a Luxury Hotel
Koh Samui is well known for its exquisite luxury hotels. For a relaxing evening we headed to the Vana Belle, a Luxury Collection Resort to enjoy a signature cocktail and gourmet snacks at the Lobby Lounge which is set under a traditional vaulted roof.

Another option is to stay on the beach all day long, which is what we did the previous day at The Briza Beach Resort, Koh Samui
