To B or not to B, asks Bulgari

Bulgari has added an Italian sizzle to our summer, adding new colourfully crowned jewels to its iconic BVLGARI-BVLGARI collection. Cool, contemporary and created for women who love to mix and match their gems, these fun-loving pieces have been designed with the new woman in mind. From mouth-watering ice lollipops with a cheeky bite taken out of one corner to single stud earrings set with hard stones, these pieces are far from conventional.

The BVLGARI-BVLGARI collection needs no introduction. In 1977, when initiating the use of the Bulgari logo with the original Roman “V” on a watch, the first BVLGARI-BVLGARI watch was launched. Inspired by the inscriptions encircling ancient coins and with the words “Bvlgari Roma” etched around the bezel, BVLGARI-BVLGARI continues to remain a classic symbol of the House.

Starting with slender gold bangles and rings celebrating a new Bulgari double logo, jewels were introduced into the collection in 1996, with the words separated by a single diamond set flush into the metal. These very first BVLGARI-BVLGARI jewels epitomised the everyday glamour of the collection with the outspokenly beautiful simplicity of Roman architecture.

Roman Sorbets jewels were added in 2016, further expanding upon the collection, bringing with it the colours of Italy’s favourite frozen treat to life with wonderful candy-coloured pink tourmalines, amethysts, sapphires and tsavorites set in gold.

As alluring and tempting as the frosting of a gelato on an Italian summer’s day, the BVLGARI-BVLGARI Gelati jewels are one of life’s simple yet deliciously indulgent temptations. Good enough to eat, the new BVLGARI-BVLGARI Gelati jewels are a continuation of the sweet-toothed theme first created by Bulgari in the 1980s, featuring ice cream and lollipop brooches set with precious gems.  Later came the Roman Sorbets range of 2016 that, in turn, inspired these new Gelati jewels. Bright gems evoke the rich colours of Italy’s famous sorbets and offer a cool respite and a moment of sweet bliss.

The BVLGARI-BVLGARI collection has evolved with the times, and its latest incarnation for 2018 is the most playful one yet while still pertaining a powerful reminder of Bulgari’s Roman roots. The collection’s focus is firmly on colour, which is so much a part of the House’s DNA. These are jewels created for young women who don’t play by the rules, featuring vivid pops of green, red, black and white, all of which give a delicate nod to pop art from the 1970s and 80s.
