Throughout April
Cherry blossom is Japan’s national flower and symbolizes the arrival of spring and the beginning of the new school and financial year. The cherry blossom of Tokyo’s trees is a truly spectacular sight and one of the best places to experience the full impact is at Ueno Park where there are over one thousand trees. The hanami (flower viewing) can just be a walk in the park, but most Japanese take a picnic or have a party under the trees to experience the beauty of the blossom in full. Ueno Park is also the location of the National Museum and the oldest zoological garden in Japan.
