Designing a luxury living space is a fine art, and from choosing the right colour scheme to selecting the finest statement furniture pieces and just the right accessories to set the whole look off, it’s not something everyone has the eye for. Nevertheless, we’d likely all love to live in an aesthetically pleasing home that isn’t just a pleasure to spend time in, but to welcome guests into, too – so what should you do if interior design simply isn’t your forte?
Working with an expert interior design company is always a good place to start, and by bringing the professionals in, you can achieve an expert upgrade to any living space that is guaranteed to impress everyone who lays eyes on it. And, with social distancing measures continuing to ease, decadent dinner parties and sophisticated soirees are officially back on the cards, it’s now more of a possibility than it has been all year – so there’s no better time to get the ball rolling.
If there’s one man who knows just how to inject a little extra luxury into a home, it’s interior design expert Filippo Bruno di Tornaforte, whose Monaco design studio and consultancy has been working alongside high-net-worth customers to create their dream abodes for 15 years.
Not just a man with an eye for colour and design, he has studied the arts extensively over the years, gaining his Bachelor’s degree at the prestigious Architectural Institute of Venice and spending his final year in Los Angeles. A man of many talents, he attended courses at the Hollywood Film Institute before launching a career in the world of fashion, during which he worked for coveted high-end brands including Valentino, Ralph Lauren, Oscar de La Renta and Yves Saint Laurent – before finally realising his true passion in luxury interior design.
“In 2011 I moved to New York, where I began working as interior design consultant for some important private estates. Later, in September 2014, I became involved with the launch of the new international luxury brand LUVÉ, working as art director in Paris and Zurich. The debut of the new luxury maison was held in Venice during the Film Festival, with a big event in collaboration with Vanity Fair, and presented by Ursula Andress,” he explains.
Suffice it to say that he has worked with some seriously big names, and in 2018, he was also appointed head of design for Karl Lagerfeld – a role that he still holds today.
“My design work is still quite broad,” he says. “Tornaforte Interiors is a passion project, and through it I have not only worked for Lagerfeld, but also The Royal House of Savoy, who are some of my biggest clients. I launched the design studio in Monaco just last year, and since then it has gained much acclaim and continues to attract a number of high-net-worth clients who are looking to elevate their home interiors and achieve that distinctive air of luxury that is so highly coveted here.”
Born in Italy, some might say that both design and luxury are in his blood. From a young age, he had an immense love for all forms of artistic expression, and his father, Arch. Diego Maria di Tornaforte, was the offspring of an ancient and aristocratic Piedmontese family that built its fortune in the 17th century with the production of silk that supplied the Royal House of Savoy.
Nowadays, he employs an experienced team who offer an impeccable service to wealthy clients in and around Monaco, as well as further afield – working on projects ranging from residential villas and penthouses to tiny yet bijou studio spaces – and of course, in Monaco, it would only be fitting that their work would extend even to luxury yachts.
Working closely with clients to bring their visions to life and make their dream interiors a reality, Filippo and his team conduct careful research on all elements of the design process, from layout and choice of colours and materials to the finishing touches and accessories – to ensure that everything works together synergistically.
Clients are presented with a detailed brief that they are invited to feed into, and the studio works with only the best craftspeople to ensure the utmost standards aren’t just met, but exceeded at every stage of the project.
“Besides Monaco, many of our projects to date have been on the French Riviera, in opulent destinations like Nice, Antibes, Cannes, Villefranche-sur-Mer and St. Jean Cap-Ferrat – but we also work in major European fashion and design cities such as Paris and Milan,” says Tornaforte.
“We don’t impose a particular style or trend on our clients; we instead adapt our expertise to create what they envision, which has meant that every interior design project we handle has been entirely unique, with excellence always the ultimate goal no matter what space we are working with.”
It’s an approach that has seen Tornaforte Interiors gain increasing attention amongst affluent crowds across Europe, and that has seen the consultancy quickly establish it as the go-to choice for the finest in luxury interior design. With a client list that is growing longer by the day, suffice it to say that Tornaforte and his impeccable eye for design are officially in demand, and in spite of the ongoing pandemic, 2021 is turning out to be a hugely successful year for his endeavours.
With people spending more time at home than ever over the past year, it’s little wonder that our attentions have turned to the design of our living spaces, or that online searches for home renovation ideas, design overhauls and makeovers have spiked significantly over recent months – and sought-after consultancies like Tornaforte Interiors are filling up their calendars fast. So, if you want to secure Bruno’s expertise for your dream project, then there’s no time like the present.
