Twin sisters Sukriti Kakar and Prakriti Kakar are the first twins in the Indian music industry, but interestingly, their careers took off individually, and they are proud of that. While they definitely bank on the USP of being the first set of twins in the industry, they won’t stop from working individually and that speaks volumes of their potential, choices, versatility as singers. As the twin sisters celebrate their birthday this month, TMM gets candid with them to know more about their individual taste in terms of lifestyle choices and more.
When it comes to music, what inspires you?
PK & SK: We think music inspires music and musicians inspire musicians. On days when we don’t feel motivated or inspired, we are always on a hunting spree of finding new songs and singers. It’s so inspiring to hear more people and to know their story through their songs which in turn inspires us!
From the past, which music era is your favourite and why?
PK & SK: The 90s hands down was a super vibe with regards to music! It was an era that came with the glorious independent music scene where albums and singles of bands and singers were celebrated just like film music if not more. The songs and music videos of the 90s are still remembered and cherished and that’s because the audience really cherished & celebrated indie music back then. It was a total vibe!
One thing that you like about each other.
PK: We’re twins, choosing one thing is impossible! But if I have to choose one thing I like about Sukriti, it would be her sheer diligence and impeccable planning ability! She writes things down, maintains a diary, and is sorted overall, which is amazing.
SK: One thing I like about Prakriti is her carefree nature and spontaneity. She always goes all-in and believes in the famous millennial term “YOLO”!
One thing that you dislike about each other.
PK: Quite honestly, being sibling means we fight a lot but there’s no hardcore dislike as such. But yes, I do find Sukriti’s need of being in control a little strong.
SK: What I find a little too much to handle is that I am always responsible for Prakriti!
One piece of advice, you would like to give to each other.
PK: One piece of advice for Sukriti would be to enjoy the present without worrying about the future. Live life to the fullest!
SK: One piece of advice for Prakriti would be to be on time if you know what I mean!
What’s the most embarrassing thing you’ve ever done?
PK & SK: There is 100% nothing more embarrassing than landing in another city and heading out to shop in a mall only to realize all your credit cards are sealed! It was a real nightmare which left us absolutely stunned with no option, no solution. Imagine going to shop and swiping your card only to find out it was sealed!
What’s the best bargain you’ve ever got?
PK & SK: We once happen to stumble upon an old vintage crystal shop in Armenia and we bought some healing crystals at such an exorbitant discount only to later realize that they costed a fortune! Best buy, best steal for sure!
What’s the most precious thing in your wardrobe?
PK: Personally for me, it would be my darling heels! I literally have one in each colour.
SK: For me, it would definitely be my sneakers – comfy and chic!
One song that can make you go to sleep?
PK & SK: Oh! We have a nighttime playlist that calms us and puts us into a deep slumber! No one song for sure.
What keeps Do you awake at night?
PK & SK: Netflix and coffee!!!
Most used applications on your mobile.
PK & SK: Instagram and WhatsApp.
If you had been an outfit, it would be what and why?
PK: I would be a satin dress because it’s perfect for any occasion and you can never be overdressed or underdressed in one.
SK: A chic pop coloured dress with cool kicks! You can wear it to a party, dinner or even when you’re out shopping!
Last where did you go on holiday and anything memorable about the trip?
PK: Our last holiday was in Goa! It was memorable because it was our first trip after recovering from Covid and we pampered ourselves just enough to come back refreshed and back to the grind, ready to hustle!
When it comes to fashion, what’s your favourite daily look?
PK & SK: A white tee and a pair of denim shorts or distressed boyfriend-fit denim pants. It just sets the tone for the day.
If you get a chance to fulfill one wish this birthday, it would be?
PK & SK: We would wish for a Covid-free WORLD, there surely is nothing else we would wish for!
