The 2016 UK Michelin guide was leaked yesterday with two London-based Japanese restaurants gaining a coveted two Michelin Stars.
The two new star restaurants were the nine-cover Araki, ran by the famous chef Mitsuhiro Araki where each table is a chef’s table, and Umu which takes traditional Japanese cuisine and gives it a modern edge. These two restaurants were the only new two stars in the UK and there were no new three star restaurants in this year’s guide.
Heston Blumenthal’s famous Fat Duck Restaurant was omitted from the guide as the restaurant temporarily moves to Melbourne whilst the Fat Duck undergoes a refurbishment.
In total London now has 11 two star restaurants and 25 one star restaurants. Three star’s were retained by Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester, The Waterside Inn in Bray and Gordon Ramsay’s in Chelsea.
