When it comes to the new year, Bebe Rexha is not playing games! The 30-year-old revealed she’s all about focusing on herself and her happiness in 2020.
“My mood for the whole year,” she began her Instagram caption and tweet on Monday, January 6. “Just being myself and living the life I want. No longer living for others. If they like me for me then it’s meant to be. Also, I die for this coat.”
If there’s anything Bebe is known for besides being musically-gifted and stylish, it’s for always speaking her truth. Whether she’s addressing matters to do with her talent or body image issues, she never holds back, which is why she’s loved by many.
Most recently, the “Me, Myself & I” singer revealed there was a time in her life she wanted to sing opera instead of pop. Bebe also took the opportunity to show off her vocal pipes, and she did not disappoint.
“Interesting fact: I first wanted to be an opera singer and I studied classical music,” she shared on Instagram in November. “Sorry if I fu–ed up the words. I haven’t sang it in a long time. Rusty. (And this is me after my show. I’m tired and just wanna go to sleep. And I got black under eyes ’cause I actually don’t sleep ’cause I’m too busy working and I’m wearing baggy clothes ’cause I don’t give two s–ts for the people who judge.)” Get it, girl!
Another time Bebe used her platform for good was when she stood up for women when she revealed the reason designers refused to dress her for the 2019 Grammys because they claimed she was “too big.”
She wrote on IG in January 2019, “If a size 6-8 is too big, I don’t know what to tell you. I don’t want to wear your f–king dresses, ’cause that’s crazy. You’re saying that all the women in the world that are size 8 and up are not beautiful and they cannot wear your dresses. So to all the people who said I’m thick and I can’t wear your dress, f–k you, I don’t want to wear your f–king dresses.”
