Model, actor, and an entrepreneur too. How do you perform all the roles efficiently?
The secret is, I’m very honest with myself. I prepare myself and understand what is important for the role, the show, the movie or the web-series. I bring in a lot of new elements. Like in my last T.V show, I brought in fidget spinner which became very popular. So, I add a lot of little things to the character as an actor to make it more real and relatable. I think the same approach makes me efficient as a human too.
You have been in the entertainment industry for more than 20 years. How has cinema and art changed over the years?
The change has been substantial. Earlier, actors were hesitant doing experimentation, but now, it is well-appreciated. I think the internet has helped a lot in bringing the change. As an actor, I feel the change is for all good. But, the change has also lead to the breach of privacy and originality in terms of content.
You just won the ‘Best Supporting Role Award’ for Gehraiyaan, what’s your take on the web series?
It always feels great when your hard work is recognized. It was India’s first horror web-series. I was playing the character of a ghost and I wasn’t sure if I will be able to pull it off. So, I tried to do my best. I think at the moment web-series have a very approach and unique content. A lot of experimentation is being done to grab the masses attention. The reason behind the change is, you can’t do a lot of experimentation with movies or T.V shows because of the obvious risk involved.
Nowadays, good content is a challenge. In your opinion, what kind of content can keep viewers connected?
Content is definitely a challenge because everybody is exposed to international films, web-series, and shows. So, if you have to make new content, it has to be something extraordinary. Earlier, people were not exposed, so it was easy to copy and paste. I think original content with a pinch of practical approach is what people love these days.
