Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, Los Cabos has been at the forefront of ensuring traveler safety. The Los Cabos Tourism Board has worked closely with Velas Resorts among others to build a comprehensive service that leaves guests reassured when traveling to and from the region.
There are still obstacles to navigate and restrictions are in a constant state of flux. Resorts have had to be dynamic in their response. They must be able to give clear and correct information to all guests whether they ask for it or not.
Few have done more to reassure guests than Velas Resorts. It has been a leader in Covid-19 protocols since the pandemic began and recently received the global safety stamp of approval from the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) for its sustained efforts.
Grand Velas Resorts has initiated the same comprehensive STAY SAFE program across its properties in Los Cabos, Riviera Maya and Riviera Nayarit. The program goes way beyond the norm and extends to every part of resort operations. It has not only been designed to reduce the risk of Covid-19 contamination to its absolute minimum but also make the guest experience as relaxing as possible.

This includes extensive cleaning of all suites, innovative decontamination technology for staff and guests and expertly curated contingency plans should a guest or staff member test positive for the virus.
As for getting to Los Cabos, the tourism board has made it as easy as possible. There is no need to show proof of a negative test upon entry or quarantine, but you will be asked to fill out a health questionnaire. Returning travelers flying to the US will be required to present proof of a negative Covid-19 test administered within three days prior to their international departure.
To ensure its visitors’ vacation is stress-free, the award-winning Grand Velas covers the cost of its guests’ antigen tests. A certified laboratory will perform the test within the property, and the hotel says results will be ready in a maximum of 24 hours and sent to guests via email. It will also arrange for a certified medical professional to attend the hotel if a guest requests a PCR test.
If a Grand Velas guest receives a positive test, they will be given a 75% discount to extend their reservation to quarantine. An extra suite will be offered, and this will be located in a reserved area of the hotel, with services for them and their entire family.
