Vudu café Larder
Vudu café Larder is a worthy contender for the morning long queues. Located at the heart of Queenstown waterfront. Opened daily from 7.30 am the modern café serves up organic, seasonal, and local produce dishes. I was pleased to know it’s the same team behind Bespoke Kitchen another establishment in Queenstown I visited during my visit to New Zealand.
The popular café is busy at all times, and the early morning visit meant queues for a table. It has a very open space and an outdoor seating area. This is the part where we had a negative experience. As the café is one of those order at the counter type of cafes, the moment we left our table to place our order. The waitress sat another party at our table, I had to kindly tell them that we got up to order and the seats were all taken. The waitress finally came over to apologise that she made a mistake. The counter is filled with scrumptious looking cakes, sandwiches, burgers and more.
Vudu café larder menu
The usual brunch suspects can be found on the menu, benedicts, sourdough toasts, house-made muesli, bircher, pancakes, French toast, eggs served anyway, and burgers. The drinks menu is extensive, freshly blended juices, boaster smoothies, iced drinks, lattes, chai’s, and alcohol.
The food
Buckwheat orange zest pancakes $20 were well presented. It arrived on a spotted pale-green plate, an explosive golden yellow thickly stacked pancakes, seeded raspberry compote, berries, pineapple slices poached pear, coconut whipped cream, pistachio and date pesto. A pot of maple syrup to pour over the pancakes, it tasted as great as it does visually. Hitting the sweet spot, hot lemon, ginger tea was one of the things I kept ordering whilst in New Zealand. Something different to my usual breakfast tea, feeling refreshed from each slurp.
