Waldorf Astoria Bangkok makes a grand debut

Hilton’s super luxury brand and one of the world’s most iconic hotels has finally made its Southeast Asia debut, right here in the City of Angels. Regarded as one of the region’s most-awaited hotel openings, Waldorf Astoria Bangkok is bringing the brand’s legendary hospitality and rich heritage to the Thai capital.

Waldorf Astoria Bangkok is situated in the upscale Ratchaprasong neighbourhood, overlooking the striking expanse of the vibrant metropolis and in close proximity to prime shopping and tourist attractions. The remarkable new sculptural addition to Bangkok’s skyline has been designed to resemble a magnolia springing from the ground. The architectural marvel is a tribute to the owners of the property, MQDC (Magnolia Quality Development Corporation Limited).

Founded in New York in 1893 and boasting a portfolio today of 30 luxury hotels and resorts in landmark locations around the world, Waldorf Astoria is renowned for its exceptional hospitality and personalised guest services. It’s three pillars – True Waldorf Service, Inspirational Environment and Authentic Moments – are the cornerstones for each of its inspiring properties. Prominent historical figures, world leaders, royalty, celebrities and socialites have all called Waldorf Astoria their home-away-from-home.

Daniel Welk, vice president of Operations, Luxury and Lifestyle, Hilton Asia-Pacific remarked, “Waldorf Astoria Bangkok will mark the brand’s first foray into Southeast Asia and herald the beginning of ‘Unforgettable Experiences’ in Bangkok and beyond. The hotel’s timeless environments and exclusively crafted guest experiences, combined with the brand’s unparalleled True Waldorf Service, will set a new benchmark for luxury in Asia.”

At Waldorf Astoria Bangkok, guests can choose from 171 elegantly appointed rooms and suites, including 136 Deluxe Rooms, 34 Suites and a grand Royal Suite, ranging in size from 50 square metres up to an impressive 3,000 square metres. The guestrooms are luxuriously furnished with a state-of-the-art interactive entertainment system, well-stocked minibar, espresso machine, and spa-inspired bathrooms with exclusive toiletries by Salvatore Ferragamo. The interiors are a stylish mélange of contemporary architecture and traditional Thai motifs, reflecting the exquisite artistry and craftsmanship of award-winning designer André Fu and his design studio, AFSO.

Providing guests with a truly unforgettable experience is a team of personal concierges, who tailor each experience around the individual needs of guests, starting from the pre-arrival right until departure – embodying the hallmarks of the iconic True Waldorf Service.

Aimed at being one of the city’s most distinctive dining destinations, Waldorf Astoria Bangkok will house three signature restaurants, a lounge and two bars. One of the hotel’s culinary jewels is Front Room. Helmed by the acclaimed Chef Rungthiwa ‘Fae’ Chummongkhon, the unique concept restaurant will feature innovative Nordic-Thai fare, a first of its kind in the city. Other exceptional eateries to look out for are Bull & Bear, a steakhouse specialising in grilled meat and seafood; The Loft, a New York-inspired Art Noveau bar serving artisanal cocktails and spirits; and The Champagne Bar, the hotel’s crowing jewel on the topmost floor.

The conceptual dining outlets that span across the top three floors of the property are designed by renowned New York firm, AvroKO, who have earned their reputation as being one of the most innovative design companies in the field.

For celebrations and special events, Waldorf Astoria Bangkok offers the majestic Magnolia Ballroom. The 730-square-metre space, which can accommodate up to 700 guests, boasts impressive eight-metre-high ceilings, custom-designed chandeliers and wall panels made from the finest Thai silk. For conferences and business meetings, the hotel has an additional eight meeting rooms, ranging from 20 to 490 square metres, featuring stunning views of the city and manicured gardens.
