We Get Weird And Wonderful With MCM’s Vintage Jacquard Monogram Collection

If there’s one thing German fashion house MCM knows how to do best, it’s honoring its rich heritage whilst staying firmly rooted in our shifting cultural zeitgeist. Focused on revolutionizing classic design with the use of innovative materials, MCM is slowly moving into different contemporary realms, with the brand’s iconic DNA remaining firmly at the helm.

Alongside its recent 45th anniversary, the luxury brand unveiled a new Vintage Jacquard Monogram collection. This monogram is a redesign of its well-known Visetos Monogram, a timeless pattern that we have seen on bags, purses, suitcases, and caps – pretty much everything. The Vintage Jacquard collection has a more straightforward aesthetic but utilizes a weaving technique traditionally linked to that of the Bauhaus Textile School – a nod to the brand’s strong German pedigree, and its love of craftsmanship.

Merging its past and future, MCM’s latest capsule collection includes handbags and silhouettes such as the Stark, Tote, Klassik, Satchel, and the Wilton Chain, as well as some must-have accessories like the home slippers and bucket hat. The brand also released its Terrain sneakers and slip-ons in the Vintage Jacquard Monogram, with the whole collection available in three smart colorways; modern blue, royal red, and antique grey.

With MCM’s ethos and reimagined designs drawing in more and more of the curious, global creatives of our time, we decided to take a look at how some of them styled out the Vintage Jacquard Monogram collection.

From the sea to the city, by day or by night, here are some of our favorites.

Multi-hyphenate art director, stylist, and model, Glenn Goh, is really feeling the modern blue colorway in this full monochrome look. Goh adds the classic cap to his get-up, finishing the casual, oversized aesthetic of his outfit with the Vintage Jacquard hi-sneakers.

Have you ever seen more denim or a longer pair of jeans? Designer Ziggy Mack Johnson never holds back when it comes to his eclectic looks, and this MCM-adorned outfit is no exception. We see almost every accessory on show, from the Vintage Jacquard tote and crossbody to the slippers and wristlet pouch.

MCM is in Ibiza with filmmaker and artist Ana Sting. Wearing nothing but the brand’s crossbody bags and front packets, the aesthetic of this self-portrait is somewhat reminiscent of a Tarantino movie, and we are loving the royal red colorway – perfect for that end of summer glow.

Tori West experiments with her developing photography skills in these self-portraits that see her sporting the Vintage Jacquard bucket hat and shoulder bag. The young editor proves that bucket hats really are the go-to move, regardless of what season it is.

London-based creative consultant, Jamie-Maree Shipton really encapsulates one of MCM’s key concepts – travel essentials. Showing us how versatile and convenient the crossbody, vanity case, and shoulder bag are, Shipton drops the Vintage Jacquard collection into hot summer scenes, and we are here for it.

Everything about this teems with casual comfort. Model Bloody Sire mixes it up by pairing the blue denim cap and a simple white vest with the antique grey Stark backpack and two-tone denim jeans. He finishes off his cool blue look with the Vintage Jacquard sneakers and the MCM AirPods case, because why not?

Creative for online shop Places+Faces in London, Fáiz is no stranger to accessorizing her slick fits. Here we see her complete her head-to-toe pleated look with the Vintage Jacquard slippers and mini shoulder bag, perfect for those long work days when comfort is key.

Berlin-based hair artist Janina Zais never puts a limit on her creative expression. Here we see the Vintage Jacquard tote in a whole new environment, thanks to Zais camouflaging her model in the bold MCM monogram with full-body paint. Quirky and outlandish, we can’t take our eyes off it.
