Every so often, a celebrity will step out in an outfit that goes above and beyond just being stylish — it speaks to our very souls! Enter: Lucy Hale on the set of Katy Keene.
The longtime actress, 30, was spotted filming the upcoming series in NYC on Monday, September 23, wearing head-to-toe perfection. For starters, any outfit that exclusively deals with different shades of pink is always a winner in our book. You call it overkill, we call it Elle Woods-chic. Secondly, her heels have scrunchies as ankle straps. Yes, you read that correctly.
While we aren’t positive of the brand, Alturizza’s “George Pump” has been attributed with turning the popular ‘80s hair accessory into footwear. Needless to say, we’re obsessed. As for the rest of the outfit? Good news: It’s just as fabulous. Lucy wore a sheer, pink polka dot top with puffy sleeves and a sequin, hot pink pencil skirt.
Now that we’ve properly gushed over Lucy’s on set outfit, let’s talk some more about Katy Keene, shall we? The Riverdale spin-off is set to premiere in 2020 on the CW and the plot sounds awesome.
Basically, Lucy will be playing the lead role of Katy Keene, a talented fashion designer living in NYC, who has dreams of making it in The Big Apple. Katy’s roommate is a powerhouse singer by the name of Josie McCoy (yes, played by Ashleigh Murray from Riverdale), who also has big city aspirations.
Unlike other shows in the franchise, Katy Keene won’t feature spooky, occult elements. “You know, we have the same creators as Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, but they have much different worlds,” Lucy told W Magazine.
“Katy Keene is much brighter. It’s about four friends optimistically trying to make their dreams come true in New York City. The way we shot the pilot, it looks like old-school New York. It’s beautiful.” Girl, it sounds beautiful! We can’t wait.
“You feel really optimistic and inspired, so tonally it’s a lot different from Riverdale. But I think lovers of shows like those will still gravitate to our show, because it leaves you feeling good and ready to go out and chase whatever it is you’re chasing,” Lucy continued. “I’ve never quite done a show like this. There’s a musical element to it, and lots of amazing clothes.”
