  1. What is your inspiration for creating clothes?
Nature has always been my inspiration to the innovative imagination and I always try to maintain a balance between nature and trends.
  2. How would you describe the menswear market in India?
Men nowadays are taking interest in trends and want to dress according to the fashion. So the market for men’s wear is drastically growing and gives an immense space to the designer’s not only the established once but also the new and young designers to explore the men’s wear market. It has a huge possibility for growth and demand for the market.
  3. What are the current trends in men’s wear designs. How have the trends changed over the last one decade?
Men these days are trend conscious and want to look their best on every occasion. Fashion these days got more experimental and detailed like embroideries on accessories or jackets is a rage. Tailored bright suits are making their way big time in men’s wardrobes. Floral trend has gone to the next level in form of prints. Stripes, especially bold ones have taken a vertical leap. Pink & green are definitely the colors of the season. Drapes for men, whether in form of kurta or jackets are a new rage, Asymmetric cuts are quite visible nowadays especially during weddings, as that’s a good time to experiment with such silhouettes.
  4. In your opinion, what are the various challenges of the fashion industry and do you have any solution?
From my point of view, the problem lies in the fact that millennial see fashion as an integral part of their lives, and too many people who are neither adequately educated nor qualified for this field want to try out themselves as bloggers and fashion designers. That could be an advantage because it brings more versatility and creativity into fashion, but hiring a team of consultants and fashion experts such as Niche Fashion could definitely bring more profit and opportunities to small fashion businesses.

  5. Do you feel that fashion is influenced by popular culture. Can you cite some examples in this regard?
Yes, to an extent fashion is influenced by popular culture. Popular is directly proportional to mass media, and mass media as the biggest source of information and influence guide even the creative minds to create things that people are being exposed to. For instance, on this International Yoga Day, the regional (gamcha) scarf worn by Prime Minister drew the attention of fashion critics and influencers and then it was duly highlighted by the mass media as the upcoming trend. This pushed many designers to work on the same line. Another popular instance is of Priyanka Chopra’s trench coat trail. Having said that, it’s totally a designer’s prerogative whether to fall for the popular culture or not. There are designers who keep themselves aloof of all this and work on their own philosophy.
  6. Fashion is as dynamic as technology. So, how do you keep up with the challenges and new trends in order to be on top of the game?
In the fast-paced fashion industry, you always have to be one your toes and keep an eye on the changes around you. The challenges you face are all neutralized by your creative and innovating thinking and how you execute your ideas in your outfits.
  7. What are the leading menswear trends in clothing and accessories for S/S 2019?
The season will include a black and navy suit, and a tuxedo or formal events. While for traditional gatherings you will see bandgala, a Bandai, a kurta-pajama. And to enhance the formal looks, you can also have a subtle oxford shoe, narrow tie or a bow-tie, and a pocket square. For the traditional look, you can invest in a brooch or you can also play with a lapel pin to mark a unique impression.
