Hackney Wick, seems to be the one-stop destination for hip, trendy spaces. I was invited down to Number 90 suited by the canal for the opening night. Number 90 is a hip, restaurant, and bar, gallery with creative vibes.

Initial thoughts upon arrival, it is large and spacious leaving a homely feel. Like lounging at someone’s living room. Art hanging off the walls, a small section of fashion pieces to buy. Did I mention it is also a bar and restaurant?
There’s a very small selection of cocktails available. All the ingredients, flavours are made on site, uniquely for Number 90.
I sample a great selection of canapés by Head Chef Leon Borja, street style food with from influences from around the world. I loved the sticky Thai style BBQ rib, the meat literally fell off the bones, the flavours where rich and indulgent and the smell lingered on my fingertips.
The meatball trio tasted like mini hamburgers, mini round balls mixed with herbs, lamb, pork and apple served in homemade tomato ketchup.
Mac and cheese, was super creamy with a slight crunch, scattered flakes of truffle gave the extra depth of texture.
Live art was painted live as the night progressed. Sound check was happening inside, so we stepped outside for an intimate performance by the canal.
The multi-arts venue also host, bingo, movie, nights along with dance workshops etc. Expect a fun filled year round of events, with great food and drinks.
