Whiskers and Cream cat cafe 

Ever since my travels in South Korea, I came to love animal-themed cafes. Zero existed in London, now a few have popped up. 

Location 

Whiskers and Cream is a relatively new café, opening in 2018. The cat café seems to be the only one offering a drink with admission for £11 and 90 minutes to eat, play with the cats. 

The café is located along Holloway Road, it’s easy to spot with the large windows looking into the café where you can often find one of the resident cats in the basket. The shop front is modern, with the large logo displayed amongst the sleek black colour. 

The front of the café, has coffee machines, merchandise on display. Once you are greeted by staff you be let in via the secured locked door.

Once inside and seated, you have a short induction of housekeeping, a history of the recuse cats and their characters. The staff who served me was friendly and gave me first-class service. As one of the first people in the café, I had plenty of time to walk around and see all the resident’s cats of Whiskers and Cream. Vanilla perched himself opposite me throughout my stay, and many cats came to me trying to snatch my food.  

The resident cats are free to roam in the two-floor café, and it has cute décor to match. A customer of theirs has created cartoon characters of the eight cats as badges and totes to purchase. You can find a toy box to play with the cats. Most of the cats were tired and napped the time I went, I happily snapped away at their portraits.  

Food and drinks 

Food is locally sourced and has sandwiches made to order. The coffees are from Vagabond, the luxury hot chocolate uses real chocolate pieces,  Birchall teas, the café is licensed to serve alcohol if you want a treat. For sweet treats, there’s loaves, macarons, muffins, cakes on offer.  

I indulged in the hot chocolate, soft moist lemon drizzle cake and raspberry macaroon. 

Just before 15 minutes before your 90 minutes are up you are presented with the bill, as a reminder to finish up food, drinks and toilet trips before leaving.
