Wing Zone has arrived from the US with the only UK London branch at Finsbury Park. Buffalo wings are their signature product and being a flavourholic is the name of the game. Started up 26 years ago friends Matt and Adam spent their nights in a fraternity house perfecting recipes that become a staple to their franchise today.
Wing Zone invited me down to celebrate National Chicken Wings Day. For one day only all wings are 50p. Now with that the queues for the night were crazy, people were queuing up for hours just to get their hands on them. Wing Zone Finsbury park is only a small place with a handful of seating areas. Inside are bright orange signage and metal seats and wooden tables.
Wing Zone prepared a special bloggers menu for the night. We first sampled tenders and wings with Wing Zone flavours in a pot. Tenders are the boneless option for those who don’t want to get down and dirty attacking the meat off the bone. Sweet samurai is a Japanese influence one, whilst buffalo is the subtly hot.
Wings are lightly breaded and crispy, I prefer having them coated in a sauce then on its own.
Now the best part of the blogger menu was the newly introduced build your own burger. Choose your base burger, choose a flavour or go naked, add cheese and choose some toppings.
The beef burger combined with blue cheese, sliced tomatoes, red onion rings and liquid gold sauce killed it. I couldn’t get enough of the honey mustard sauce between the bites of heavenly ¼ lb meat. The toasted brioche bun kept it all together without falling apart.
Sides will fill you up, with a choice of chips, chunky wedges, mozzarella stix, jalapeno poppers etc.
