The latest Yacht Style is ‘The Superyacht Issue 2019/2020’
Here in Asia, there’s plenty going on in November and December. In Thailand alone, the first Thailand Charter Week (November 16-21) at Phuket Yacht Haven is followed by the eighth Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show (November 21-24), the 33rd Phuket King’s Cup Regatta (November 30-December 7) and the fourth Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous (December 12-15).

With so much happening in Thailand, Yacht Style profiles Asia Marine, the Phuket-based company founded by industry veteran Vincent Tabuteau, who reveals the vast changes in yachting in the region over the past 35-plus years. Meanwhile, if you’re in Ho Chi Minh, Shenzhen or Hong Kong, look out for a 103ft racing trimaran as IDEC Sport embarks on its 2019/2020 Asian Tour.

This last Yacht Style of 2019 is headlined by our annual feature on the Top 100 Superyachts of Asia-Pacific and although the list doesn’t get longer, the boats sure do. Many globe-trotting superyachts are already planning their visits to Japan for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and even further ahead for the 36th America’s Cup in New Zealand in early 2021.

One newcomer to the Top 100 is the stunning 82m RoMEA (see cover photo), now chartering in the Indian Ocean and Southeast Asia for the first time, having previously cruised around the Caribbean during the northern winter.

Some even-larger newcomers to the Top 100 were in or around this year’s Monaco Yacht Show, as multiple 100m-plus builds cruised and anchored outside Port Hercules and along the coast during the four-day event, which we review along with the new-look Cannes Yachting Festival, as Yacht Style again attended both of these iconic global shows.

Three of our Reviews were world premieres at Cannes or Monaco – Benetti’s 63m Metis, Azimut’s Grande S10 and the 48 Wallytender – while Yacht Style also profiles a Hong Kong-owned CLB72 built nearby by CL Yachts, the new brand from the historic Cheoy Lee shipyard.

Other features include an interview with Russian Sergei Dobroserdov, who shook up the superyacht sector by founding Monaco-headquartered Dynamiq, which builds Dutch-engineered yachts in Italy and has a partner in Asia, Central Yacht.
