Yolkin – Ice Cream Macaron affair

Yolkin

The one thing I never got to try in Seoul was macaron ice cream sandwich. The portions served up in Seoul were so huge my friends and I never had room for desserts.

Fast forward back from my holiday and summer. Then suddenly Yolkin appeared all over my social media feed. Pastel coloured shells with ice cream sandwiched between the two taken at all sort of angles. Yet sadly due to its popularity they always sold out on a Saturday when they were trading at Whaam.

Yes, it took me a good few years to finally try Yolkin, only because I was passing by someone on the street with one in his hands in Covent Garden. I spotted that unique branded paper right away and I asked the stranger where he got it. I was only seconds away from Yolkin current trading spot Siam Eatery.

I don’t remember what exact flavours were sold on the day but I was gearing towards Hong Kong style tea. I parted with £4.50 and shared the ice cream with my brother. The macaron ice cream sandwich is perfectly moulded into a cylinder shape. Ice cream is intense in flavour, rich with the two different black teas and sweetness of the condensed milk. Sammie nailed the HK style tea well. Macaron shells were slightly soft but still tasted fantastic with the ice cream.

I can see why Yolkin macaron ice cream is so popular, photogenic, colourful and tasty. Check out the website to follow where they currently trade as Sammie doesn’t currently have a physical store but moves from places to places. Catch them before they sell out on the day.
