Dame Zaha Hadid has unveiled her latest design for a series of riverside towers in Brisbane, Australia.

The Pritzker Prize winner’s proposal comprises 3 towers which would hold 486 apartments and eight riverfront villas as well as featuring 7,300 square meters of landscaped public parkland in the area of Toowong. The $420 million project is being proposed by property developer Sunland Group.

Each tower would feature a multi-layer façade comprising a curtain wall glazing overlaid with glass reinforced concrete in a quilted diamond pattern, with Sunland Managing Director, Sahba Abedian, likening the design to “a flower in bloom.”

“The design tapers each structure to minimize their footprint and open the riverfront to the public; creating a vibrant civic space for Toowong within a new riverside park,” said Hadid.

“Our vision is to create a vibrant urban village which sensitively activates its urban and riverfront context through compelling architecture and landscape design,” explained Abedian.

The project also includes the preservation of the Heritage-listed 1860s Middenbury House, located on the 1.5 hectare site.

Sunland bought the land last September for $20 million and plans to start demolition of ABC studios next month.
