Necker Island, British Virgin Islands

• Sir Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin business empire and investment group, owns Necker Island located in the British Virgin Islands. The 74-acre property is a preferred vacation destination by a lot of the rich and famous. Many lavish weddings and birthday parties have been held there. It’s also perfect for intimate affairs as the place only accommodates about 28 guests at a time. Not only is Necker Island (a 30-hectare island in the British Virgin Islands) Branson’s own private island and holiday home, but it’s also a place where other billionaires — and the Obamas — regularly choose to spend their downtime. For billionaires, privacy is key when vacationing, which is why the exclusive Necker Island is so appealing. Although the Necker Island resort is available to the general public, it costs around $5,000 a night, making it prohibitively expensive. If you can afford the price tag, then the Virgin Limited Edition property can offer guests a range of water sports (including Obama’s favorite, kitesurfing), diving, spa treatments, fine dining, infinity pools, tennis, yoga and more. If that’s a little too steep, the nearby island of Tortola, which is home to Road Town, the capital of the British Virgin Islands, could be a great way to enjoy a watered-down version of the billionaires’ holiday destination. • Who wouldn’t want to escape to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world? When he’s not traveling for work, Richard Branson, the Virgin Group founder — who is worth $5.1 billion, according to Forbes — heads to his private island in the British Virgin Islands.
• Known for being a place where Branson and his celebrity pals can kick back and party, the island has hosted events ranging from Kate Moss?s 40th birthday party to the wedding of Google co-founder Larry Page. Branson bought Necker Island for $180,000 decades ago and has since turned it into a resort.
• The all-inclusive property features a main house and six smaller houses, as well as pools, on-site dining, tennis courts and a disco DJ. Nightly rates vary by season, with rates for couples starting at around $4,390. Additionally, up to 34 guests can reserve the entire island for $80,000 per night.
• In September 2017, Necker Island was hit hard by Hurricane Irma. Branson rode the hurricane out with family and friends in a wine cellar on the island. In a post-storm Twitter post, he revealed that many buildings were destroyed. The island is not currently accepting bookings online.

Cottars 1920 Camp

• For a safari adventure paired with a relaxing retreat, billionaires prefer Cottar’s 1920’s Camp and Cottar’s Homestead. Here, guests get luxury accommodations after going on Kenya’s safari tours. • Ellison paid $300 million to buy 98 percent of Lanai, which boasts two Four Seasons resorts, as well as world-class golf courses. The lowest rate found for a room at the Four Seasons Resort Lanai was $1,075 per night.
• Bill and Melinda Gates were married on Lanai in 1994, and since Ellison overhauled the Four Seasons Resort Lanai in 2016, it?s been inundated with celebrity guests. Some of the high-profile vacationers include Cindy Crawford, Will Smith and Derek Jeter.

• The second is the Grand Egyptian Museum, relocated and newly built overlooking the pyramids of Giza.
• The museum will house over 100,000 ancient Egyptian artefacts, many of which have never previously been shown in public and includes King Tutankhamun’s complete collection of over 50,000 artefacts.
• Once complete, the museum will be the largest in the world devoted to a single civilisation.
• Egypt was the top destination for billionaires in 2019 and remains a top spot in the new decade. That’s all thanks to the long-awaited re-opening of The Grand Egyptian Museum and Steam Ship Sudan, a cruise that glides down the Nile between Luxor and Aswan. • There has been a150% increase in early 2020 months bookings for Chile partly because a solar eclipse to happen in the country on December 14, 2020, passing through the Chilean Lake District. The area offers a lot of opportunity for adventure, including hiking, horseriding, kayaking, and fishing.
• Chile is known for its rich history, vibrant culture and scenic landscapes. It’s also a perfect spot for luxury seekers especially Easter Island’s primary all-inclusive luxury hotel, Explora Rapa Nui is “phenomenal”.

Israel

• Israel has seen several new transportation and hospitality openings set to make it a hot destination next year. Ramon airport, which opened in January 2019, “created an international gateway” to the Red Sea and Eilat; Virgin Atlantic launched a new daily service from Heathrow to Tel Aviv in September 2019; and Six Senses, a five-star luxury resort chain, is set to open in the Negev Desert in February 2020.
• Tel Aviv has seen a recent influx in tourism and from that, an increased demand in luxury hotels. With an increased popularity, and a previous lack in the luxury hospitality scene, we see many luxury hotels popping up across Tel Aviv.

Antarctica

• 2020 marks 200 years since Nathaniel Palmer laid claim to the discovery of the Antarctic mainland, making it an iconic year for all Antarctic travel. Travelers are interested in the exclusive experience of the Magellan Explorer, an expedition vessel built for the Antarctic and the first small passenger ship to offer single cabins that launched in 2019.
• More than 55,000 tourists visited Antarctica in the 2018–2019 season — an 18%-plus increase from a decade prior, according to data from the International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators. Most visitors come from the US, China, Australia, and the UK, many of them on luxury cruises.

Jamaica

• February is going to be prime-time for travel to Jamaica, thanks to “reliably good weather” and the 75th birthday anniversary of Jamaican native Bob Marley.

• An increases tourism is foreseen in Uzbekistan since it ditched its visa requirements for travelers from 45 countries including the UK. As such, it expects more intrepid travelers looking for somewhere untouched will head to neighboring Kyrgyzstan.
• The country is home to mountains, Silk Road sites, and a nomadic culture. We’re seeing a rise in people wanting to go off-grid, digitally detox, and taste the kind of wilderness that is as yet still untouched, untamed, and untainted by tourism. Kyrgyzstan ticks those boxes, and also makes a fantastic combination tour with neighbouring Uzbekistan. It’s a country on the cusp of discovery but not for much longer.

Nicaragua

• With Nicaragua removed from the FCO travel warning list in 2019, it’s set to welcome international visitors once again. Nicaragua has everything that we love so much about Costa Rica, but with fewer tourists and — as it’s the largest country in Central America — more space to get off the beaten track.
• Its city of Granada has an edge over cities in neighboring countries, he added, for its colonial appeal, pastel-colored baroque buildings, and rich Spanish architecture.

Croatia
