From sea-inspired colourways to quartz-powered timepieces and more, here are ten of our favourite new watches to wear this September.
Richard Mille
For a purported âracing machine on the wristâ, Richard Milleâs latest novelty, the RM 07-01 Coloured Ceramics, is unusually playful. Although the ladiesâ capsule boasts the hi-tech materials and construction methods youâd expect from the Maison â youâll have fun telling friends the skeletonised movement is in micro-blasted grade 5 titanium, while the front and back bezels are made from Tetragonal Zirconia Polycrystal â the Pastel Blue, Pastel Pink and Pastel Lavendar colour schemes, and the âpart-botanical, part-sunburst and part-Art Decoâ dials are delightfully whimsical. This late summer stunner comes in a limited run of 50 pieces each.
Breguet
Breguetâs feminine Reine de Naples 8938 comes in two new versions. Especially flamboyant is this model in rose gold, with 3 carats of diamonds on the snow-set dial, bezel, lug and crown, an offset hours chapter in mother-of-pearl and self-winding rotor in â what else? â platinum.
Baume & Mercier
Inspired by the CĂ´te dâAzur and first created in the early 1970s, Baume & Mercierâs Riviera has been re-interpreted for 2021 in radiant greens, a darker hue for men (in a 42mm case and automatic movement) and a lighter shade for women (in a more petite 36mm size with quartz calibre). Both feature a satin-finished wave pattern dial, as well as easily interchangeable rubber straps that match just about any summery mood.
Harry Winston
Harry Winstonâs Emerald ladiesâ watch collection has been enlivened by four new models, each in a vibrant colour: turquoise, orange, champagne or, shown here, violet. Each quartz-powered timepiece comes in a white-gold case set with 53 diamonds and all feature a coloured dial and matching cabochons in mother-of-pearl, set with a further 20 diamonds. A matching satin double-tour strap completes the ensemble.
Hublot
Although a 42mm case is on the large side, we can still see the ladies queueing up to get their hands on Hublotâs Big Bang Unico Summer. No, itâs not in ceramic as you might have suspected but anodised aluminium, which is not only lightweight but also gives a gorgeously metallic glint to a shade thatâs said to be inspired by the colours of a Pacific lagoon. As just 200 are being made â and are available only at eboutique@hublot.com â if you want this seasonal stunner on your wrist youâd better move fast.
Bell & Ross x Patrouille de France
Earlier this year we brought you news of the tie-up between Bell & Ross and the Patrouille de France display team of the French air and space force. Well, hereâs the first fruit of the collaboration, in the form of the new BR 03-94 chronograph, which bears the squadron insignia on its handsome blue dial. Available in just 500 pieces, the watch is powered by an ETA-based automatic calibre, though interestingly the teamâs pilots will receive an otherwise identical quartz edition.
Tag Heuer
Tag Heuerâs Aquaracer has been a default dive watch choice for some four decades. The latest 43mm professional 300 iteration brings the watch bang up to date with new materials â including grade 2 titanium and ceramic rotating bezels â dial colours and ergonomic features.
Bovet 1822 x Rolls-Royce
Until now, the ultra-exclusive British car-maker Rolls-Royce has resisted collaborations with watch brands, but its recently announced tie-up with Bovet 1822 could hardly be more logical. The first result is a pair of astounding his-and-hers tourbillon timepieces, which are designed either to be worn on the wrist or slotted into a dashboard housing on the one-off Rolls-Royce Boat Tail â one for the owner and the other for his wife.
Bremont
Cool and relatively understated for what is, after all, a 43mm watch, the new MB Savanna is the latest offspring of Bremontâs long-term association with aircraft-ejection-seat manufacturer Martin-Baker. Designed to withstand the extreme G-forces generated when ejecting, the Savanna is a classic pilotâs watch featuring twin crowns, an internally rotating bezel, a black and yellow loop device on the central second's hand and a desert-inspired sand colour for both dial and case.
Breitling x Triumph
With Breitling wrapping up its partnership with Bentley after almost 20 years, the Swiss watch brand is striking up a relationship with another British automotive brand â and this time itâs moving from four wheels to two. In a tie-up thatâs described by both parties as âlong-termâ Breitling will now be working closely with motorcycle manufacturer Triumph, whose products will feature prominently in the watch brandâs showrooms â and doubtless vice versa. Although the two sides have nothing concrete to show quite yet, both say theyâre working hard on cross-branded watches and bikes, with first reveals scheduled for early next year.

Bremontâs Lightweight Titanium Pilotâs Watch Was Inspired by Fighter Jet Ejection Seats
Bremont invests in icy charm this summer with the diamond-set Solo âLady Kâ
Thereâs no doubt Alex Lam inherited his musical talent from his parents, his father being Cantopop legend George Lam Chi-Cheung, and his mother, Sally Yeh. Still, the singer-songwriter and actor hasnât let privilege get to his head â heâs not afraid to explore other paths, from a stint in Los Angeles to discover yoga and becoming a yoga teacher, to dipping his toes in fashion.
Lam met Hiro Yoshikawa, founder and designer of Washi Jeans, a Japanese denim brand, a couple years back and was intrigued by the designerâs backstory. Now based in Hong Kong, Yoshikawa is the 18th generation of a revered sake maker in Okayama, Japan, and the first to leave the family business to pursue his own passion in denim-making. By chance, Yoshikawa had found an old document that charted out his familyâs history, written on washi paper. Inspired by this, he developed and patented the Washi No. 6 paper yarn, which he utilizes in his first solo collection launching this month.
Lam, who has always had an eye for detail, quickly became an ambassador and muse for Yoshikawa, and took it upon himself to bring the recognition Yoshikawa deserves by helping him stage his upcoming solo debut.
We sit down with Alex Lam and Hiro Yoshikawa at Washi Jean's studio to talk about style and the upcoming debut of Yoshikawa's solo collection Life on Earth.
Can you describe your style? What are your wardrobe essentials?
AL: My style has always been inspired by musicians. I grew up watching some of my favourite bands like The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, and today, I'm inspired by singers like Drake. For me, my summer essentials include a sleeveless vest, a good multi-functional blazer and a pair of high-quality designer jeans.
Have you always been passionate about fashion and did you want to work in fashion?
AL: I have always cared about how I look and my outfits since I was a kid. I remember there was one time when the collar of my t-shirt wasn't right and I wouldnât wear it out until my parents fixed it for me. Having friends who are in the fashion industry allows me to execute and experiment my ideas during workshops, like the âmarshmallowâ colourway of the t-shirt Iâm wearing right now.Â
How did the both of you meet?
AL: I met Hiro-san thought some of our mutual friends.
HY: have been making jeans for other brands for the past 30 years and it has always been my dream to have my own denim brand. I have always hung out with people from the fashion industry, and meeting Alex from the music and acting world has made my life more fun and exciting.
Can you tell us a bit about your project with Hiro-san?
AL: I was hanging out with a group of producers and we often talk about fashion shows, designer brandsâ videos, installation art and music. Once we found out Hiro-san wanted to launch his own denim brand this year, we decided to catch this opportunity and put our ideas together. We are organising a VIP launch event with a fashion show on June 11, 2021.
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome with this project?
AL: I think the rules of the game changed after Covid started last year. We looked at online fashion shows last year, without the tradition styles, and we knew our team needed to do it in a cleverer way. The restriction for event gathering is 30 persons at the moment, so we were not able to invite too many friends and make the event as big as before. Plus the campaign and fashion show video shoot all in one day, thatâs the biggest challenge in this project.
HY: Â We have been staying in our studio almost every day is the past few months, meeting different parties like our PR team, models, videographers and producers.
What else are you up to this year that you can share with us?
AL: I have released a new song and I just finished a music video for another song. I have also been working on my YouTube channel and created a few series, but itâs been slightly slowed down because I was focusing in this project.
Has the pandemic affected the way you work or changed your priorities?
AL: Before Covid, I was busy working with clients, who often prepared everything. With changes and restrictions during this period, I am able to organise and create more content by myself.
What are you currently inspired by?
AL: There are many indie musicians and young kids out there who are doing their music in their unique styles. I admire them a lot as they can release songs as long as they think it sounds good. I used think good music requires the best studio and recording equipment, but turned out a lot of indie musicians are producing high quality songs just by working at home.
You have a YouTube channel, you're into fashion, music as well as classic cars. How did you get into each of those passions and how do you balance it all?
AL: Project by project. Iâm now focusing more on quantity over quality and I'll keep learning from the progress and mistakes.
Do you have a motto you live by?
Stay healthy. As I was a yoga teacher, I still practice yoga for two to three hours each day. Itâs a good way to reflect on myself and find peace.
