living the life you love
Lugano might just be the most perfect destination. Each year, I have the privilege of traveling to this place to work in our studio. Sometimes, we even get to work outside of the studio. By 5 o’clock, we freed ourselves from the work table littered with magazine clippings. We had been collectively researching the top fashion trends for fall. photography:GAIA GRIGOLETTO | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | August and September in Lugano are absolutely beautiful. The destination – Lake Lugano, just a few blocks away from our working studio. The purpose – shooting lifestyle edits for our luxury footwear brand, Naked Feet. After late nights, a determined focus, and hours spilled over different forms of media, we were energized for the release. The air was warm with a hazy overcast. The muted sun created a feeling of comfort. The look had been planned weeks in advance. A ravaging cocktail dress by Elliatt arrived early for the shoot, even before it was available for pre-order at Revolve. There are some perks to being a luxury …
leave a legacy of love, that’s all you need to know
In a herd of a thoughtless, self-absorbed generation, it’s easy to get lost. It’s easy to be distracted, to forget about others in our quest for happiness and self fulfillment. We seek happiness. We chase our dreams. We desire to leave a legacy. What is success without someone to share it with? What is happiness when no one else is smiling. What is a legacy with no one who will care enough to remember you? We live in an era of darkness, where visions are clouded. We fight, strive and seek for ourselves. We forget about the people around us. We forget that they too are chasing their own dreams and fighting for their own lives. People all around us suffer with emotional damage, baggage and hopelessness. Our mental health is slowly slipping. Not for just those who suffer with severe anxiety or depression – but for everyone. Gasping for air so deeply they can’t imagine sharing their breath with another. Yet, maybe that’s the very thing that keeps us above water. People are made …
the beauty of white space | change your life with nothing
A break from the mundane, last week’s adventure was a long-form hike up some treacherous grounds for an editorial shoot for Naked Feet shoes. The brand is a footwear label that specializes in unearthing true comfort through simple, luxury style. The concept for the campaign was unbelievable comfort, so these sacchetto styles were shot unbelievable backdrops – namely the Appalachian mountains. photography:JOSH WOLFE MUSIC | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | luxury shoes:NAKED FEET SHOES The journey itself was an adventure – from long gravel roads to a broken down car and a few miles hiking up the wrong direction, we never actually made it to the destination. But a loss? Far from it. Not only were we able to capture a beautiful part of nature and fashion colliding, we were able to enjoy the luxury of taking work outside the office breathing in the fresh summer air. Scaling sharp rocks in heels and luxury fashion? Sign me up. Not a soul was spotted up in this remote sanctuary, and the silence was a blessing …

silence | learning to embrace the luxury of time
The keys clinked in the dish where I dropped them on the shelf. Then, the house was silent. The laughter, stories, cocktails and dinners had faded to ghosts of the past. That was yesterday. Today, nothing moved or breathed besides my own flesh, returning home from the office and pouring a glass of wine. photography:ME | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | sustainable organic cotton sweater c/o:STATE CASHMERE (use code: KRISTINA20 for 20% off) It’s always been odd to me that some people resist those moments alone. They often find solace in companionship and conversation. Don’t get me wrong, while deeply introverted in my regeneration, I’m quite a bird in social settings. Yet, there is something rewarding in coming home to nothing but silence. You can hear the birds just outside the windows. There are no distractions. There is time to relax and enjoy a moment of stillness. Life has become chaotic and overrun with stimulation. So much so, that nothing is stimulating at all. That is, all but the luxury of time. Time that we …
today’s experience | rainy but bright
I took another sip of the sparkling water. The sound of the bubbles in the can and icy cold in my hand creates such a refreshing experience. The snaps and pops were just a note higher pitch above the sound of the rain coming through the open French doors. It is Friday afternoon. Our office closes early, and the people all rush to spend an extra couple of hours in the sunshine. Not today. The forecast is rainy all weekend, yet somehow the mood is still bright, like the bright taste of citrus still bubbling in my can. The sheet of melting clouds is so thin the light still puts through. It’s that sort of washed out light, a soft white that feels like purity shining through a dark room. It fills the fallen rain with a drop of glowing white reflecting from the soft sky. There is a soft sort of comfort that comes with rain. Like a song to our soul, it soothes away worries and stress. It calms the mind. It creates …

time is the new luxury
The fluorescent bulbs flickered and let out a hum. The sound of keys repeated like rain falling on the earth. A faint smell of coffee and someone’s perfume lingered in the air. I stared blankly at the white wall. Once a source of inspiration, it seemed so empty in the moment. Redundancy is creativity’s mortal enemy, but avoiding redundancy is often a lack of structure and discipline. Where does one really find balance? The endlessly growing pile of magazines and spreadsheets didn’t look much different than the year before. There were a few extra documents showing areas of growth in the past year. A few new processes had been made to create a higher level of efficiency and accurate testing. We were watching some new brands and following this year’s marketing trends. Things were progressing forward as they should be, but something was missing. A lack of excitement perhaps, lost sight of the high aspirations for each year. Strangely, those aspirations were met and exceeded, only the vision was lost. It was another day at …
getting back to the basics
A quiet hum of the dryer beats softly in the background. You can hear the birds above the white noise. A bright light shines through the ample windows. Spring has arrived, and with it a moment of stillness. After weeks on the road traveling between Nashville, Vegas, Atlanta, Costa Rica, Switzerland and Milan – this time at home feels like a haven of its own. No rowdy traffic, no drunken alleyways, no meetings or spewing stress of colleagues – it’s just me, the birds and the creaking ghost of the house (whom I’ve lovingly named Ralph). photography:NICK PETRICK | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | vinyl leggings c/0:COMMANDO It’s easy to get caught up in the pursuit of perfection both at work, at home, and managing life as a fashion blogger. These moments are ones that I cherish the most. The moments that allow us a clear vision and stable mind help us to reset and focus on our current existence. The next few weeks will pass here in this place, deep in the heart …
flying first class in FENDI
The clouds swirl in motion from the movement of the plane. The light is bright white, like being covered in a new sheet. There’s nothing quite like the rush of energy that comes from being 25,000 feet in the air. Running away from reality for the weekend. From the east side to Europe, the next 6 days will be spent wandering the streets of Milan for an afternoon – then shifting to Lugano for a week of design work in the studio under the Swiss mountains. The feeling is adrenalizing. I’ve spent a lot of time spinning dreams in my head as of late. Letting go of safety lines, the temptation to be truly free from restraints has been overpowering. First class, FENDI, sipping a Tito’s and OJ, overlooking the world mixed in a heavy fog below, it’s not hard to imagine. Safety has brought me where I sit here today. It’s been my constant. I made my safe bets and found a way to achieve a certain level of success in reaching my dreams …
vinyl, velvet and volte-faced
If you can’t see your face in my pants, they’re probably not tight enough (and I doubt that’s the case). Feeling sleek with a fierce display of reflective fashion. If I had a spirit animal, it would be a panther, and my wild side certainly materializes with the kind of style that effects your mood. Though, underneath it all, I’m a kitten I suppose, with a soft velvet bodysuit and underlying disposition to match. Split personality you say? Just living life fun I say. [shop: SNEAKERS] [shop: BODYSUITS] [shop:LEGGINGS] Everyone has multifaceted aspects to their core. Some more distinct than others, and some more subtle. Society tells us to be ourselves, as if it’s a singular state of being we need to force ourselves to conform to. I say, be as many versions of yourself as you think you can handle. Consistency and a strong identity have their perks. Diversity and self contradiction is more fun. A Sagittarius to the core, shifting to and from dynamics is practically second nature. Life is fluid, so why …
