Lonely Ape Dating Club: The First Dedicated Dating App for NFT Collectors

Riding high on the Valentine’s Day tide, the Metaverse has some good news for crypto enthusiasts and NFT collectors.

Why should an important date like Valentine’s Day not be celebrated in the virtual and digital world? When people are getting married in the Metaverse, it is time digital art collectors and NFT buffs get their own dating app as well.

Building on this concept, a dedicated dating app for NFT collectors—Lonely Ape Dating Club—will soon be launched.

Lonely Ape Dating Club: what we know

Who can join the app?

The first dating app solely for NFT collectors, it will be ready to roll out for the public in no time. Now, only those with at least one Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT can join the app.

Interested NFT collectors can head over to the Lonely Ape Dating Club’s official website to register on the waitlist and get early access.

How does the platform work?

Lonely Ape Dating Club comes with its set of differentiators and unique selling points which make it stand out from the other dating apps.

There is no need to enter or display personal information. Instead, one can link their crypto wallet to access the app. Once logged in, the users can display their net worth and NFT portfolio. You can also filter your matches by their cryptocurrency value and the NFT collection.

According to the press release by the website, “‘Coin Digger’ feature will allow non-BAYC owners to connect with higher net worth individuals for mutual benefit.” It also enables a “match to earn” feature which allows one to earn tokens on interacting and engaging on the platform.

Users can gain the attention of others by sending them tips in crypto and showing off some cool metrics like how long you ‘diamond handed’ or held on to your NFTs and personal net worth.

Masterminds behind Lonely Ape Dating Club

The dating platform is the brainchild of Year 4000 or popularly known as Y4K. Y4K is a group of hackers and NFT collectors who have seamlessly weaved the web 3.0 technology in the online dating sphere.

Lonely Ape Dating Club is being presented by BAYC owners and is gaining fast attention.

Just the way the world is adapting to the new way of looking at investments and assets, this step, too, has the potential to change the way we know online dating and perceive dating apps.

The 10 Most-liked Instagram Posts of All Time

From Billie Eilish’s blonde moment to happy announcements for Cristiano and for Kylie, these are the most-liked Instagram posts that captured our “hearts” — on the app, at least.

Yes, Instagram — the app that, despite our better judgment, we just can’t seem to put down. And with the app that we can’t put down, there’s the celebrities we can’t stop following, and ultimately, the posts we like, and scroll, and like, and scroll, and like some more. It’s a vicious cycle — but one that shows no signs of stopping any time soon.

On the plus side, the photos below, those that have earned more of our “likes” than any others — are mostly things worth celebrating. Happy moments, like pregnancy announcements. Wedding pictures. Dyed hair reveals. Honestly, the only big difference between this group of photos and your friend’s photos are a few professional photographers, and, of course, millions and millions of dollars. There’s also a stock photo of an egg. So, let’s get into it, shall we? We shall.

The 10 Most-Liked Instagram Posts of All Time

1.) @world_record_egg’s self-portrait

55.7 million likes

Many, many moons ago — 2019 — Kylie Jenner and her baby Stormi had the most-liked photo (18 million) on Instagram, which inspired an advertising exec to see if an egg, this egg above, could get more likes. It worked. It’s still working. Egg!

2.) @cristiano and @georginagio’s pregnancy announcement

32.6 million likes

The most-followed person on Instagram comes in second to the app itself — and he’ll again have to settle for silver when it comes to the platform’s second most-liked post: the egg still has a solid 23 million on him. But we’re sure CR7 doesn’t mind — this happy post from October 2021 is a celebration alongside Georgina Rodriguez, announcing pregnancy and twins with the football star.

3.) @xxxtentacion’s final post

28.3 million likes

Rapper XXXTentacion, commonly known as “X”, is no longer with us, but he lives on through this, the final post on his Instagram account, simply reading: “LOVE IS WAR.”

4.) @arianagrande’s wedding to Dalton Gomez

26.6 million likes

No stranger to making waves on the ‘Gram, Ariana Grande’s wedding photos with Dalton Gomez in May 2021 racked up the likes quickly. Congrats to the happy couple.

5.) @kyliejenner’s pregnancy announcement

20.7 million likes

Before giving birth in February 2022 — another most-liked Instagram front-runner on the way — Kylie Jenner took to Instagram to announce her second pregnancy with rapper Travis Scott. Naturally, the likes followed.

6.) @billieeilish’s blonde hair reveal

22.9 million likes

Going to the salon is only the second most-important part of getting your hair coloured — the first is showing it off for Instagram. Singer Billie Eilish shared this moment with her fans, and nearly 23 million likes later, it looks like they approve.

7.) @leomessi signs with PSG

22.1 million likes

After two illustrious decades with Barcelona, footballer Lionel Messi shocked the world twice: first, by leaving the club he had spent his entire career with; second, by signing to Paris Saint-Germain on a two-year contract with the French club.

8.) @billieeilish for Vogue

22 million likes

It’s not every day you get shot by British Vogue; if that’s not a moment worthy of dropping a new pic on Instagram, then I don’t know what is. Doubly so when you’re Billie Eilish and get to do so in a coat by Burberry and boots by Mugler.

9.) @leomessi wins the Copa América trophy

21.9 million likes

Before his Barcelona announcement, Messi brought home the Copa América for his home country of Argentina — a major moment for the captain, who had long battled to win a big one for the national team.

10.) @leomessi says goodbye to Barcelona

21.2 million likes

This was the one that shocked the world, and, we should also note, a hat trick for the Argentine Forward, with three of the top ten most-liked Instagram posts of all time. It was an emotional moment for football fans, but the game goes on, as Messi has — he’s not done yet, folks.

5 Socially Distant Activities Perfect for Pairs in Hong Kong

Don’t fret, we’re not resorting back to Zoom quizzes quite yet. Here are five things you can still do in Hong Kong — in groups of two, of course.

As of 8 February, the government announced its most stringent social distancing measures since the pandemic began. Down from four to groups of two, Hong Kongers are quickly losing steam as social plans unravel and hopes of a holiday continue to fade.

Let’s face it: The new rules are tough. We get that it’s hard to remain optimistic while it feels as if the rest of the world is moving on, and this new wave is only just beginning in Hong Kong, but now more than ever, we need to keep our spirits high. So if you must, there are still ways to (safely!) get out there — as a pair — and make the most of the concrete jungle.

Things to do in Hong Kong in groups of two

Escape to an outlying island

Image courtesy of Burak Ceviz via Unsplash

It’s been over two years since some of us have seen our families and left the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong for calmer climes; but while we continue to wait for the green light to travel, we’re making do with what we can and escaping as far afield as possible within the city.

Currently, there are no restrictions for public transport, so grab your partner or a friend and hop on a ferry to explore one of our outlying islands for the day. From Lamma to Peng Chau and Po Toi to Sharp Island (to name but a few!) check out what to do and where to eat in this guide — or make a weekend of it and book an AirBnb. Sure, we’d rather be sunning on a beach in Thailand, but we promise these sea views will suffice, for now.

Picnic in the park

As a public space, parks follow the rule of two (unless you’re a family) as well, so there will just be room for a couple on that picnic blanket for the time being. Think of it as a chance to catch up over a canned G&T and a takeaway from your favourite restaurant — or, make it a super swanky affair and splash out on a luxury picnic setup. Complete with highly Instagrammable table settings, decorations and even snacks and drinks, why not spend a little extra cash on something unique while we can’t pop to the pub or have friends over for rooftop drinks?

Take to the trails — two by two

Image courtesy of Joseph Chan via Unsplash

The weather is actually cool enough to take advantage of Hong Kong’s abundance of hiking trails, so we might as well make a move on those New Year’s resolutions. Bars are closed, after all.

In no need of an introduction, Hong Kong hikes are steeped in history, boast panoramic views and even lead to some pretty great food — so take your pick of the lot and clock up a few steps with your hiking partner in crime. Here’s how to stay on top of your game — just in case you choose to tack on a few kilometers and there.

Snack on all the street food

Image courtesy of Jojo Yuen (sharemyfoodd) via Unsplash

Restaurants have a cap on tables of more than two, so why not take to the streets and embark on a self-guided street food tour of Hong Kong instead. With majority of street food vendors usually operating for takeout only regardless of social distancing measures, make a list of must-try snacks and get to gobbling. Favourites include: Master Low Key’s egg waffles, Fei Jie’s Oyster Omlette, Hop Yik Tai’s cheung fun and Tai Cheong Bakery’s egg tarts.

Staycations

With hotels allowing rooms of four (for now!) take advantage and take some time out for yourself. Regardless of whether you simply lounge around encased in cosy hotel sheets and ordering room service or use it as a base to explore a new neighbourhood, simply spending the night away from home will do you wonders. Alternatively, keep the room to the two of you and invite a furry friend along for the night. These dog-friendly hotels are sure to treat your pooch like royalty.

CÉLINE

Valentine's Day Gifts

A combination of a Chelsea and cowboy boot is not something that normally sounds quite that alluring. Naturally, these California boots from Celine Homme are an exception. The metal element at the toe and characteristic wild-western stitching grant this pair an aesthetic quality of Americana with a French twist.

Omega

Omega Constellation 41mm
Omega Constellation 41mm

Richard Burton was famous for showering Elizabeth Taylor with jewels, but the act of love was reciprocated – Taylor who has something of an eye for watches was known to have gifted Burton a gold Omega Constellation watch. Inspired by the iconic couple, we’ve picked this latest model of the Constellation 41mm, which features two-toned 18K Sedna Gold and stainless steel, replete with the signature polished claws and a black ceramic dial. The rhodium-grey dial keeps everything cool and stylish.

Amiri

Valentine's Day Gifts

If your boyfriend/husband/nemesis/that influencer you have been stalking for months is the type who likes to make an entrance, then these Amiri jeans are everything you’ve been looking for. These are generously adorned with crystal-encrusted chains at the front, creating an alluring cyborgian silhouette. Some might say this pair is suitable for special occasions exclusively, but I’ll be sure to get the party started in my Zumba class in these.

Extreme Cashmere

Valentine's Day Gifts

Cashmere in any form is a great gift for any occasion. This one by – you guessed it – Extreme Cashmere will elevate your lounging ensembles with its luxurious softness. I got this one for the special man in my life once, and I couldn’t stop hugging him.

Marine Serre

There is nothing that makes me feel more alive than a skin-tight turtleneck. Marine Serre’s mastery in creating second skins that are both elegant and environmentally conscious is unmatched. And, since my parents would immediately disown me if I enlisted the help of a tattoo artist to draw crescents all over my torso, this top is the closest I can get to living my dream.

Chinese New Year 2022: Find Out Your Spirit Animal of the Year

The Chinese New Year 2022 is just around the corner. According to the Chinese Zodiac, also known as ‘Shengxiao’, we are all assigned a powerful animal – ‘Shuxiang’ – based on the year we are born based on the Luni-Solar calendar that has close ties with Chinese Philosophy, mainly:

  • The theory of the three harmonies: heaven, earth, and water.
  • The principles of Yin and Yang.
  • Wuxing: The five phases of the flow of the elements – water, wood, fire, earth, and metal.
  • The Ten Heavenly Stems – the Yin and Yang qualities of the Wuxing.
  •  The Twelve Earthly Branches – The twelve Chinese animal signs.

A brief history of the Chinese Zodiac

The earliest records of Chinese astrology date back all the way to the Zhou Dynasty (1046 – 256 BCE), however, it flourished during the Han Dynasty (002 BCE to 002 AD), where it was formalised and aligned with principles of Confucianism, Chinese Medicine, and traditional alchemical practices.

According to the legends, The Great Jade Emperor – Yu Di – ruler of the heavens, wanted to devise a way to measure time. So he organised a race and challenged all the animals to cross the mighty river. The first twelve, would not only earn a spot on the calendar and zodiac but would also be the guards of his heavenly realm.

At the crack of dawn, the rat rose and was the first to make it there. However, the river was far too mighty for him to cross on his own. Soon, he met the ox, the tiger, and the horse. Seeing how they were mighty and strong, he asked for their help. The tiger and the horse laughed cruelly before ignoring his plea, but the kind-hearted ox took pity and agreed to carry the rat on his back.

However, just as they were about to reach the other side, the rat swiftly jumped off the ox’s head, and with a mighty leap, he was the first to reach the bank of the great river. He was then followed by the ox, with the powerful tiger right behind him. The rabbit, shy and timid, nimbly hopped across the river courtesy rocks that jutted out and came fourth. The dragon who could have easily flown in first, stopped to helped other creatures cross the river, and thus came in fifth. The horse was about to come in sixth, but the snake slithered past, causing the horse to get startled.

Chinese Zodiac New Year

Thus, the snake came in sixth, while the horse came in seventh. The sheep, the monkey, and the rooster were all sharing a raft, taking turns to row and navigate across the weeds. When they reached at the same time, they agreed that the eighth place would go to the sheep who was the most harmonious and comforting amongst them, followed by the monkey in ninth, and the rooster in tenth place. The playful dog could have easily come in earlier, however, he was having so much fun frolicking in the river, that he lost track of time, and thus came in eleventh place. The pig got hungry and stopped to eat and take a nap, causing him to be the last to arrive.

Thus, each animal represents the cycles of the Chinese zodiac – the rat, the ox, the tiger, the rabbit, the dragon, the snake, the horse, the sheep, the monkey, the rooster, the dog, and the pig.

Chinese Zodiac 2022: The Year of the Tiger

Tigers are extremely competitive animals, known for their courage and their ambitions. After seeing how his cruelty and selfishness caused him to come in third place, the Tiger vowed to be generous and uplift others through their efforts. A Tiger year is all about making big changes, in both the world around you and the world within you. Tiger years bring about an overall increase in enthusiasm, the spirit of generosity takes over us all – causing our spirits to be lifted and empowered. Progress on an individual, as well as, on a global and collective level seems all the more possible, and we might find ourselves to be all the more daring in our endeavours. After all, the ultimate mantra of the Tiger year is ‘YOLO’ (Yes, Drake himself is born in the year of the Tiger).

Let us see how the Year of the Tiger will turn out for you, based on your Chinese Zodiac Sign. Each sign is mentioned with the years they rule. However, if you’re born in January or February, Google your date of birth to confirm which year it belongs to, as the Chinese zodiac dates change every year on the modern Western Gregorian Calendar.

Rat - 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984,1996, 2008, 2020

The year of the Tiger promises to be a far more stable year, especially compared to the last. Smoother transitions are up ahead, causing less worry and stress. Focus on maintaining a balanced diet, as well as, an empowering and consistent fitness regiment. Doing so will help you lead a productive, healthy, and happy life, as well as, increase your efficiency at work without taking on too much tension. If possible take time to travel, and build your social circles. You’ll be surprised where, when, and who will come to help you in your hour of need.

Famous rats: Cristiano Ronaldo, Tilda Swinton, Lorde, and Scarlett Johansson.

Ox - 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, 2021

Fortunes will steadily pick up for you this year. Many prospects shall come your way, as well as, there’ll be an overall positive sense of development in many aspects of your life. Just remember to not rush things. Be down to earth, humble and diligent. Rash decisions are not to be taken on this year, for that may disrupt things, creating unnecessary obstacles to peace and success. Single Ox’s have a higher chance of finding love this year, while those who are coupled up, might consider taking their relationship to the next phase.

Famous Oxes: Barack Obama, Princess Diana, Kylie Jenner, and Camilla Cabello

Tiger - 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022

Yes, Tiger, this is technically your year. However, it is important not to keep high expectations, for things may not always go as you plan. However, the more you surrender the need to control, the more you’ll run into luck from unexpected places. Thus, just be present, and live in the moment. However, there is a chance of high-risk undertakings yielding high rewards, so when your intuition feels right, take the leap and soar high. Chances of singles finding love are high, and for many, there might be a probability of wedding bells ringing.

Famous tigers: Queen Elizabeth II, Shawn Mendes, Elizabeth Banks, and Leonardo DiCaprio

Rabbit - 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011

Let go of all feelings of guilt and shame, dear Rabbit. This is the year to release all past baggage and smoothly transition into a new world of possibilities. New doors open in the realms of career – especially for those in creative fields – and there are chances for a possible upswing in matters of finance filled with unexpected growth opportunities. Many believe this is a year of being lucky in love for Rabbits. Some might even have a few brief flings here and there, as well. Just be certain not to give in to temptation too easily.

Famous rabbits: Elliot Page, Lionel Messi, Lil Nas X, and Johnny Depp

Dragon - 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012

This is a powerful year for growth, especially in your career. Even those who are ‘freelancers’ will be able to gain many new gigs, and perhaps even raise

their fees substantially. However, pay attention to your words and your deeds, for a mighty ego can lead to a mighty king’s downfall. Be brave enough to express your love for the people in your life – especially those you wish to attract. Friends and loved ones will always be ready and willing to lend a helping hand whenever you need it. Be sure to express gratitude.

Famous dragons: Shakira, Rihanna, Adele, and Kamala Harris

Snake - 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013

This is a year where caution is key. It is important to remain patient during times of crisis, as that’ll help you find solutions quicker, thus enabling you to sail past them smoothly. Respect the women in your life, especially family members and colleagues. They’ll be your biggest allies, and will always have your back. When you’re able to shed the old skin of the past, you’ll open up space for new love to enter and fill your world with joy. Those in relationships must learn to forgive and start afresh with mutual respect.

Famous snakes: Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Robert Downey Jr, and John Cena

Horse - 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014

Slow and steady wins the race. Thus instead of galloping fast, it’s best you take a gentle trot towards a steady rise in your career and overall success. It’ll last longer that way. Do not be afraid of making bold changes, but remember, no rushing – take your time to assess the situations and the opportunities at hand. This is a year to focus on your growth and expansion. Thus those who are single may have to prioritise their career over their personal lives. However, coupled up horses, make sure you don’t neglect your partner. They’re your lucky charm.

Famous horses: Greta Thunberg, Joe Biden, Kristen Stewart, and Barbra Streisand

Sheep - 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015

This promises to be a smoother year than before. However, it is essential that you showcase your talents and skills in all that you undertake. It is important for those around you to know your brilliance, but the only way they’ll be able to is if you put it out on display. Modesty may be a powerful virtue, but this isn’t the year to live by it. If you’ve got it – flaunt it. It might just end up bringing unexpected opportunities in meeting and attracting potential love interests if you’re single. Just make sure to take it too slow instead of rushing it in.

Famous sheep: Jason Stratham, Julia Roberts, Nicole Kidman, and Ed Sheeran

Monkey - 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016

This is a year to expect the unexpected. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it’s important to remember that the devil is in the details, especially those you overlook. So please make sure to read and re-read the fine print – literally and metaphorically. Don’t let trivial things escalate – especially in your personal life. Words, though lighter than air, can hit harder than a rock – especially when hurled carelessly in the heat of the moment. Keep track of your finances and investments, and make sure all your accounts are in order.

Famous monkeys: Zayin Malik, Kylie Minogue, Tom Hanks, and Selena Gomez

Rooster - 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017

Your mantra for the year 2022 is Carpe Diem – seize the day! Grab onto any and every opportunity that comes your way. Don’t be afraid to take big risks and major leaps of faith, for they’ll be rewarded in ways you cannot even imagine. Just make sure to wear a ‘helmet’ as you do so. Safety first, after all! Just remember that your heart is tender, and thus be gentle with it. Be sure to be good to yourself on a daily basis, and you’ll be surprised how ‘The Universe’ rewards you for doing so.

Famous roosters: Serena Williams, Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, and Britney Spears

Dog - 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018

This is a powerful year of inspiration. Those of you in creative fields will perhaps create works that many may consider masterpieces that will be appreciated by not only your peers, but even your haters will begrudgingly applaud you. However, while you’re caught up in this inspirational swing, make sure you be careful with your finances and investments, and avoid doing anything too risky. The art of saving will go a long way this year.

Famous dogs: Madonna, Cher, Nicki Minaj, and Prince William

Pig - 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019

This is a year of learning for you. In a literal sense, this is a wonderful time to further your education, or perhaps even embark upon updating your existing skill sets or perhaps even learn a brand new one that is completely alien to you. Doing so will have incredible long term benefits in the years to come. It’s also an important time to learn more about yourself. The more you spend time trying to understand yourself – especially the ‘darker’ aspects of your psyche, the more you’ll be able to form better connections in your professional and personal lives.

Famous pigs: Chris Hemsworth, Idina Menzel, Mariah Carey, and Hillary Clinton

These Are the Top NFT Marketplaces You Should Know About

If you're looking to get into the NFT game, you should be aware of the best NFT marketplaces.

Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are hogging the spotlight while altering how we look at assets, investments, artwork and rare collectibles. People can shop for these unique digital creations at dedicated NFT marketplaces.

Built on digital blockchain technology, NFTs are irreplaceable and unchangeable digital tokens in the form of images, audios, GIFs, 3D models, videos and much more. Additionally, NFTs can also be etched in a Metaverse, which is a self-sustaining digital universe that can house many characters and worlds.

NFT transactions are generally done in cryptocurrencies and have even got several A-list celebrities hooked. While Eminem, Amitabh Bachchan and Justin Bieber have launched their NFTs recently, luxury fashion houses like Gucci, Balenciaga and Louis Vuitton have joined the hype around their digital art projects. Even auction houses like London-based Christie’s and Sotheby’s in New York have sold NFT artworks by digital creators and artists like Beeple, who made a fortune out of it.

Having said that, numerous NFTs are being sold at virtual marketplaces. These are websites that allow trading as well as NFT minting and are mostly based on the Ethereum blockchain.

Explaining the concept of NFT marketplaces, DappRadar says, “These websites facilitate a location where trade takes place and often take a percentage from the transaction for their services. Every blockchain has its NFT marketplace. Some specialise in a certain niche, others embrace every type of NFT on the market. Interacting with an NFT marketplace requires a Web3 wallet while buying (and sometimes listing) an NFT requires the base currency of the blockchain you’re working on.”

Read on to know about some of the best NFT marketplaces out there

OpenSea

OpenSea is one of the leading NFT marketplaces that provides a platform for creators to list their NFTs for sale and buyers or collectors to choose from its unfathomable collection.

Based on the Ethereum blockchain, OpenSea is an NFT platform that offers a simple and secured trading experience. So much so that its success made its co-founders, Devin Finzer and Alex Atallah, the first NFT billionaires in early January 2022. To date, the marketplace boasts over 80 million NFTs.

Anyone who wants to mint their own NFTs can do so as the marketplace offers huge support by accepting over 150 different payment tokens, though Ethereum (ETH) remains the main one. Wiping out most of its competitors, OpenSea has a massive market advantage for its sheer trading volume and collection. It alone recorded mammoth trading of USD 10 billion since its launch in 2017. With huge fundings, celebrity clientele and numerous NFTs to choose from, a collector might feel like a child lost in a candy store.

The official OpenSea website reads, “A core part of our vision is that open protocols like Ethereum and interoperable standards like ERC-721 and ERC-1155 will enable vibrant new economies. We're building tools that allow consumers to trade their items freely, creators to launch new digital works, and developers to build rich, integrated marketplaces for their digital items.”

Axie Infinity

Axie Infinity is another most sought-after NFT marketplace in the gaming arena. A dedicated space for gamers of the video game by the same name, it allows players to create, buy and sell axies — game characters and other digital collectibles.

The marketplace has created a base for the gaming world through its creative and user-friendly domain. One of the top and most expensive NFT markets, its market cap goes into billions. Axie Infinity has attracted gaming and crypto-enthusiasts for its futuristic assets.

Such is its wide fanbase and dealings that the Axie marketplace also has a platform where players can interact, develop NFTs and compete with others to earn points and other collectibles, which can also be sold as NFTs.

Rarible

Rarible is one of the oldest among NFT marketplaces and continues to influence the crypto space. Giving users easy minting and trading opportunities, it has an array of NFTs to buy and sell. Rarible is also known for its user-friendly interface, which is used to create NFT art.

Like OpenSea, it is also based on the Ethereum blockchain technology, but the major difference between the two is that to carry out transactions here, one has to use its own token called the RARI token.

While focusing on creating a smooth and secured crypto investment and transaction experience, Rarible has also partnered with a number of leading brands that have launched their NFTs in this marketplace. These include Taco Bell and Cloud software giant Adobe, who teamed up with Rarible to protect the works of NFT artists and creators.

Recently, the marketplace closed funding of over USD 14 million.

Nifty Gateway

A marketplace for the elites, most of the NFT transactions grab instant spotlight as they begin to trend in the crypto market. Built on the Ethereum blockchain, Nifty Gateway is an art curation platform that has been instrumental in selling NFT artworks of world-famous artists like Beeple and Grimes.

Nifty Gateway is managed by the parent company and crypto exchange, Gemini, and is controlled by the Winklevoss Twins.

As per their official website, their mission is “to make NFTs accessible to everyone.” One can buy and sell NFTs on the platform as well as list and curate NFT collections. Other than this, the NFTs purchased via this marketplace are also hosted here, which means they are stored in the user’s Nifty account instead of their digital wallet.

Nifty Gateway partners with global names like artist Michael Kagan and is one platform that allows transactions in fiat currency USD.

Decentraland

What was initially criticised for being quite far-fetched and based on metaverse can now safely be called the game changer in the crypto world. The official website says, “Decentraland is a decentralised virtual reality platform.”

In Decentraland, a 3D traversable measurable universe called LAND, the space and all its contents are divided into parcels that are “identified by cartesian coordinates (x,y).” These parcels are permanently owned by community members and transactions can take place using MANA, Decentraland’s crypto token.

The official website of Decentraland further says, “This gives users full control over the environments and applications that they create, which can range from anything like static 3D scenes to more interactive applications or games.”

Built on the Ethereum blockchain, Decentraland’s marketplace gives a completely new experience as compared to other NFT trading platforms, as it bridges the gap between real and virtual worlds. Users can buy lands, houses and pretty much all other digital assets that one purchases in real life.

With USD 114,695,018 market cap according to CoinMarketCap as on 25 January 2022, the Decentraland marketplace is graduating to become a big name in the metaverse and revolutionising digital assets.

SuperRare

SuperRare owes its popularity because of its simplistic approach and extremely user-friendly interface. The marketplace is a seamless platform — like an Instagram in the NFT world — where digital artists and consumers can directly interact.

Built on the Ethereum blockchain, all transactions are done through ETH, and the marketplace charges a base fee of 3 percent of the transaction.

The official website assures the digital art exhibited on SuperRare is “authentically created by an artist in the network, and tokenized as a crypto-collectible digital item that you can own and trade.”

According to CoinMarketCap, SuperRare has a market capital of USD 45,320,906, at the time of writing this article.

BakerySwap

BakerySwap is a prominent NFT marketplace, which is also the first automated market maker (AMM) +NFT Exchange on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC). Transactions are done with its own crypto coin called Bakery token or BAKE which was launched in September 2020.

The BAKE token is a native BEP-20 governance token on the platform. According to a CoinMarketCap report, “Users have the ability to earn BAKE tokens by providing liquidity on BakerySwap, and BAKE holders can use their tokens for governance voting and to receive transaction fee dividends. The BAKE rewards are offered in several liquidity pools, initially including BTC, ETH, DOT, LINK, BUSD and BAKE versus BNB.”

BakerySwap boasts a high market cap of USD 114,169,466 according to CoinMarketCap, as of 25 January 2022.

Foundation

Foundation’s official website says it is a “platform that aims to build a new creative economy—a world where creators can use the Ethereum blockchain to value their work in entirely new ways and build stronger connections with their supporters.”

It allows creators to list their artworks and auction them to collectors who can bid on them in ETH. This enables the platform to enlist all kinds of NFTs that are supported by Ethereum.

A simple, open and hassle-free NFT marketplace, Foundation has already sold NFTs worth 50,239 ETH, which translates to over USD 121, 897, 125.27 since its inception in February 2021, as of 25 January 2022.

Hong Kong’s New Social Distancing Regulations: All the Do’s and Don’ts

And… we’re back to summer of 2020, when months of lockdown was the norm. Having maintained a solid effort to keep low and trackable cases, Hong Kong was able to return to a normal life for most of 2021. But early 2022 seemed to have other plans for us with new social distancing rules being recently implemented.

Following the latest announcement by the Hong Kong government, the city will once again be under strict social distancing rules starting 7 January (today), for at least two weeks. The news broke many plans and motivated resolutions, with restrictions on large events, gyms and international travel.

Despite the reimposition of strict social distancing rules, if you still want to enjoy your January, read on to learn exactly the do’s and don’ts in Hong Kong, as well as what's open, and who had to close.

Hong Kong's Social Distancing Rules: Here's What You Need to Know

Masks

In all public places — public transports, malls, supermarkets, office buildings, and parks — wearing a mask remains mandatory.

However, for hiking, running or exercising at an outdoor park, masks are not required.

Group gatherings

The maximum number of people in a group gathering is now set at four

The maximum penalty for an individual participating in unaccepted gathering is $5,000, an increase from the previous amount of $2,000.

Additionally, as announced by the government, “any person who participated in a prohibited group gathering; organises a prohibited group gathering; owns, controls or operates the place of the gathering; and knowingly allows the gathering” is fined a maximum of $25,000.

Dining

New dining restrictions taking effect on 7 January require restaurants to close from 6pm to 5am for dine-in services, meaning only take-aways for dinner. However, go ahead and still catch up with friends for lunch, tea, early dinner, all of that, just as long as it’s before 6pm. (See an updated list of restaurants that have adjusted their hours here.) Category C and Category D businesses are allowed to seat tables of 4 and 6 respectively, but still need to close dine-in after 6pm.

Additionally, new dining regulations go into effect 24 February 2022 that require customers must have had at least one COVID-19 vaccination to be able to dine-in at restaurants. Scanning the LeaveHomeSafe app remains mandatory, along with temperature checking upon entry.

Bars and clubs

All bars, pubs, nightclubs, karaokes, mahjong and tin kau parlours and party rooms will be closed from 7 January until further notice.

Daily activities

Unfortunately, all public and private gyms, pools and sports facilities will be closed from 7 January for two weeks until further notice.

Per the government announcement, these regulations will be reviewed on 14 January.

Entertainment

Entertainment facilities including theme parks, museums, gaming arcades, bowling alleys, live entertainment venues and ice skate rinks will be closed from 7 January until further notice.

Travel

Only HKID holders are permitted to enter Hong Kong, and all arrivals have to undergo mandatory quarantine in designated hotels for 21 days. Announced on 5 January, flights to Hong Kong from the following countries; the UK, USA, Australia, Canada, France, India, the Philippines, and Pakistan are banned for two weeks. This applies to both direct and transit flights from 8 January until 21 January 2022

Schools

The government has ruled that schools can remain open.

Work

Per the government announcement, offices and workplaces are allowed to remain open, but business are encouraged to have their employees work from home if possible.

Outdoor activities

Although gyms may be shut, Hong Kong boasts the most beautiful hiking trails and camping sites. Outdoor activities are welcome to enjoy, but keep in mind to not go in more than a group of four.

hong kong social distancing rules

Staycations

If you've booked a relaxing staycation, don’t cancel it just yet! Hotels will remain open while imposing strict hygiene procedures. The maximum number of guests permitted in one hotel room is 4, and up to 8 for a suite room.

Weddings

Weddings are still allowed to continue, but on a much much smaller scale — perfect if you’re not planning a massive celebration, anyway. Wedding gatherings are limited to 20 people, and no food or drinks are allowed to be served at ceremonies. In the case the celebration is at restaurant or catering premises, regulations of six people per table must be followed.

An 8-metre-tall Santa Claus, a dreamy Christmas forest and reindeers await at the newly-revitalised Central Market, which has opened its first ever Christmas market, Christmas with Heart 2021" from now until January 16th.

The iconic historical architecture serves as the backdrop to 20 meticulously designed Christmas characters, making the Central Market a go-to spot for photos this festive season. The market is rich with Christmas carols, performances and charity activities, but what's exciting is the integration of NFT art – guests are invited to create their very own NFT as souvenirs in two art workshops hosted by Pantone C Workshop, while 1,000 limited edition event-linked NFT Tokens will also be given out to Central Club members, who can redeem one piece valued at 1,500 points on a first come, first served basis.

You won't miss the inflatable Santa Claus perched on the rooftop, but another highlight is the simulated large-scale snow installation at the Oasis, possibly one of the most photogenic spots at the market. Afterwards, spend time browsing the three Christmas markets, offering Christmas gift ideas from urban-design products, to metro wellness and start-up creativity.

Santa will make a stop between December 24th to 27th from 4 to 8 pm, so be sure to be on your best behaviour when you visit at those times.
