With the new Rose Des Vents collection, Victoire de Castellane reworks Christian Dior's lucky star into an eight-pointed motif that's inspired by a compass rose representing travel and adventure. The motif is repeated in the collection through medallions on necklaces, bracelets, and rings in 18k pink, white, and gold. The campaign will officially kick off globally with a short film that will be screened in Paris, at Charles de Gaulle Airport on 1 November.

A Look Inside Dior’s First Home Decor Boutique in Paris

Christian Dior was one of five children who grew up splitting their time between Paris and the family home on the coast of Normandy, a boy who loved art and would go on to establish one of the most famous French fashion houses in history. His keen sense of style wasn’t limited to women’s clothing, however, as evidenced by the recent launch of the Dior Maison tableware collection and opening of the Dior Maison boutique at 28 Avenue Montaigne in the French capital.

“To an impeccably decorated interior, I will always prefer one that’s more sensitive and spirited, which has gradually developed over time according to the existence and whims of its inhabitant,” Dior wrote in his 1947 autobiography, Dior by Dior. In the designer’s case, those whims extended to plants, flowers, animals and unique 18th-century architecture.

The new collection of table settings, in three styles dubbed Cannage, Muguet and Monsieur Dior, features ginkgo leaves, lily of the valley sprigs and other flowers from the garden of Dior’s country home in Milly-la-Forêt in a sophisticated palette of gold, beige, white and blue. The cannage, or rattan, motif takes centre stage on porcelain plates and glass stemware created by the house’s current artistic director Cordelia de Castellane.

The signature Dior toile de jouy is also reinterpreted with the addition of animals, much like those seen on recent accessories by creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri. The new Paris boutique offers these items and much more, suggesting this is Christian Dior’s world and we’re just living in it.

Our favourite moments from the Dior Spring Summer 2020 show

In case you missed it, the House of Dior recently presented its spring/summer 2020 collection. Presented in a beautifully designed "inclusive garden" at the Hippodrome de Longchamps in Paris, the latest collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri was inspired by archival photographs of the founder's sister, Catherine Dior.

Nature and the preservation of biodiversity are among the central themes celebrated in this show. Driven by this conviction and by the love of gardens, this new Dior collection evokes — through motifs and embroideries, brilliance and texture of raffia — lush imaginary vegetation.

[inline_related_article article_id="165312"]
The designs are presented in the style of herbaria, those precious inventories that preserve the memory of botanical species. Dior Creative Director's poetic message of environmental commitment highlights that every small gesture counts in protecting and cultivating the beauty of our Earth. The maison also purchased 170 trees from plant nurseries that will be replanted in three different locations in the Paris region.

#PrestigeItBags with Rachel Allison

Rachel Allison, the delightful daughter of fashion designer Sally Koeswanto, models the fall/winter it bags for Prestige.
Rachel Allison arrives at Alila SCBD with her glamorous fashion designer mom Sally Koeswanto. They’re both wearing denim shorts with sneakers, looking more like sisters than mother and daughter.
Sally is proud that Prestige has invited her little girl, who is about to turn 18, to model the fall/winter it bags from some of our favourite brands: Coach, Dior, Fendi, Hermès, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors, Off White, Prada, Simon Miller and Valentino.
Rachel seems shy at first under the lights. But with mom on hand to give her confidence she become more relaxed as the shoot goes on, dealing assuredly with everything from the classy Louis Vuitton Mini Dauphine to the eye-catching Off White Jitney 2.8 Cash Inside. Shoot done, Rachel sits down for a chat. Excerpts:
[caption id="attachment_165970" align="aligncenter" width="683"]
LANVIN HOOK BAG; TOP, JACKET AND SHIRT LANVIN[/caption]
How do you feel about bags?
I love them. I’m more of a bag person than a shoe person. I love to mix and match my outfits according to my bags. It’s a really fun way to spice up the way you dress and look on a daily basis.
I like bags that are small and practical. Currently, I’m in love with the Dior Saddle because of its unique and fun shape. In spite of its uncommon shape, I find it quite practical because the bag is big enough to take a lot of stuff.
There’s also the classic Chanel bag, because it’s really timeless and beautiful. You can wear it to every occasion and it looks perfect on everyone.
[caption id="attachment_166006" align="aligncenter" width="819"]
FENDI MINI BAGUETTE IN PURPLE SEQUIN BAG; TOP FENDI[/caption]
Do you remember your first designer bag?
I do! It was a Burberry, from the Kids collection. I’m not really sure what the occasion was, but as far as I can remember I got it when I was in second grade. It’s a cute little handbag. I still have it. It’s my precious Holy Grail bag.
[gallery ids="165968,165969,165967"]
What are your favorite labels?
It has to be Dior to start with. I love the variety, from classic and feminine to playful. Especially since Maria Grazia Chiuri took over as Creative Director, there’s a touch of femininity on every design.
[caption id="attachment_165966" align="aligncenter" width="1024"]
LOUIS VUITTON MINI DAUPHINE BAG, JACKET AND DRESS LOUIS VUITTON[/caption]
Who taught you about style?
Definitely my mother! Ever since I was a kid I looked at how she dressed and styled herself. Until now, she’s my biggest inspiration. Now I’m finding my own style. Both of us may look alike, but we have different tastes. My mother’s style is daring and edgy, while I’m more casual and feminine. We complement each other’s styles and that makes us look cool together.
You just graduated from high school. What’s next?
I’m going to study for a degree in International Political Economy at City, University of London. There’s no such thing as a perfect world while a lot of issues, such as poverty, racial discrimination and religious tolerance, remain unresolved. But we all know that there’s a lot of potential to move forward and solve social problems. I enjoy watching documentaries on social issues on Netflix and YouTube, and I look forward to learning more about them at university.

DIOR MEDIUM SADDLE BAG IN DENIM BLUE EMBOSSED GRAINED CALFSKIN BAG; TOP, JEWELLERY, AND SHOES DIOR[/caption]
You just appeared in Jaz’s “Katakan” music video. Tell us about it.
I got a message through Instagram from a music producer asking me if I would like to be a model in the Jaz’s next video. I thought, why not? I’d never been in a music video or done any acting before. The experience was total fun. I learned a lot and I’m really grateful to have been part of it.
What do you do in your free time?
Nothing much at the moment. As the time to go to England to study approaches, I like spending time at home with my family and our dogs. This quality time with the people I care about the most is important to me. It’s vital to treasure these moments.
On the other hand, when I get the chance I love to travel and immerse myself in the culture and history of the countries I visit. It’s all about widening your perspectives on life.

Dior Spring/Summer 2020: Love for the Gardens

Dior had just presented its spring/summer 2020 collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri last night. The collection was inspired by photographs of Catherine Dior—Christian Dior's sister—in which she appears amid her flowers, in the garden that was her passion.
Nature and the preservation of biodiversity are among the central themes celebrated in this show. Driven by this conviction and by the love of gardens, this new Dior collection evokes — through motifs and embroideries, brilliance and texture of raffia — lush imaginary vegetation.
