8 Christmas Takeaways in Hong Kong to Make Dining at Home Easy

This article has been updated on December 23rd, 2020.

We never thought we'd say this but this season is all about the Christmas takeaway. In the past, you'd traditionally make plans to see all your friends and family and dine in at all the hotels and restaurants that are serving scrumptious turkey, all the sides and drink yourselves silly over mulled wine and eggnog. Unfortunately, with the pandemic still raging around us and tightened government restrictions, this all seems pretty unlikely. This doesn't mean we have to miss out on all our seasonal favourites though. Since we can't go to them, the restaurants are bringing themselves to us. Here's a list of the most delectable Christmas takeaways in Hong Kong that restaurants and hotels are delivering right to your door so you can enjoy the holidays in the comfort and safety of your own homes.

Cobo House

Cobo Culinary Box Takeaway
Cobo House Culinary Box

Opened for less than a year, Cobo House is already making a splash with its unconventional gourmet dining experience, headed by its two executive chefs Ray Choi and Devon Hou. The restaurant rides on the concept of serving only a tasting menu that will change every fortnight. The restaurant is currently serving Chapter Two — Spices & Aromas in the restaurant, but in light of the social distancing ban, Cobo House has decided to launch their first home delivery bento box for the festive season.

From now until December 31, Cobo House is offering a home delivery option called the "Cobo Culinary Box". Each box features five courses: three appetisers, followed by a main course (choice amongst two), and a dessert.

The Culinary Box menu:

HK$1,150 per box with a HK$200 delivery flat fee, except for outlying Islands

  • Three appetisers themed under Spices & Aroma
  • A choice of mains between the 10+ Spices Short Ribs or Fillet of Atlantic Cod
  • A Masala Treacle Gateau to finish

Each Culinary Box is packaged in a two-storey wooden bento box that can be cleaned and reused.

How to order: Order via Cobo House's website on www.cobohouse.com/purchase. Orders must be placed at least a day in advance, daily order cut-off time is at 6pm for next day delivery.

Limited time offer: For orders of every four Cobo Culinary Boxes, a bottle of Maison Mumm RSRV Cuvée 4.5 Champagne will be included. Offer valid while stocks last.

2020 Christmas Wish Lists: Charlene’s Picks

Having two young children at home, Christmas is a big occasion in our household. We'd usually celebrate the holidays in the US but this year, as many families are, we're staying put. We've dusted the Christmas decorations and lights and they're all decked and lit up. And as is our tradition, we'd have the girls make a wish list and it's worked wonderfully so far. One would argue it ruins the element of surprise but these days, I'd much rather get them gifts they really want. Interestingly, I've never really thought of making one myself, nor has it ever been suggested - note to the hubby . So it was a delight making my 2020 Christmas wish list, which contained just that right amount of bling, items that are practical - and not quite so, as well a few things I came across I'd also love to gift the special people in my life.

Sauvereign

Aphrodite box calf with a Cublk Gem (HK$ 54,800)

You got me at bespoke. Formerly R. Sanderson, Sauvereign provides a different retail experience where you can customise your shoes and in this case, your bag. My favourite feature? The “GEM” which you can pick to your preference to be used as the buckle that features a gold leaf - in real gold, mind you - intertwined with colours and dashed with gold powder.

Van Cleef & Arpels

Van Cleef & Arpels Rose de Noël mini model earrings (HK$ 111,000)

The French maison had just released its new Winter collection called Rose de Noël, which is ultra-feminine and dainty but can totally rock a jeans and white T-shirt ensemble. Crafted in n yellow gold, white mother-of-pearl and diamonds this pair can easily be your everyday go-to accessory.

Hermès

Hermès silk Exposition Universelle scarf by Jan Bajtlik (HK$ 3,700)

I’ve always preferred dressing in block colours, and often in dark shades so what better way to get a pop of colour than with this Hermès silk Exposition Universelle scarf designed by Jan Bajtlik. Surely it’s a fine, pastel-perfect accessory I’d love to get this Christmas.

Bvlgari

Bvlgari Serpenti white gold ring set with pavé diamonds and two emerald eyes (HK$ 331,000)

I saw this Bvlgari Serpenti diamond ring on a friend and it was quite a sight. I could not tear my eyes from it and I instantly knew it was gonna make it to my 2020 Christmas wish list. I suppose with anything Bulgari, that is always the point, is it? While it’s definitely a bold piece, it’s one you can pull off wearing casual clothes, and of course, needless to say also be perfect for that fancy night out. I also like that the ring has several articulations that make it expandable and really comfortable to wear.

Montblanc

I’m old school and still prefer jotting things down so I’ve included in my wish list Montblanc’s notebook with the Heritage Egyptomania cover - will you look at that brilliant colour combination - which is made with calfskin Saffiano leather and digital print pattern.

H. Moser & Cie

H. Moser & Cie Streamliner Flyback Chronograph Automatic Funky Blue (HK$ 332,000)

While I’m usually partial to watches that fit my wrist to a T, I will make an exception for H. Moser & Cie’s Streamliner watch. The watch is every bit sleek, reminiscent of 1920s locomotive designs. Its minimalist and steely appearance is nicely countered by the Funky Blue fumé dial.

Tiffany & Co

double cat bowl in bone china (HK$ 1,550); bone collar charm (HK$ 1,550)

I don’t have a dog, not yet anyway, but I have many friends that do so when I came across this Tiffany & Co suite of dog accessories, which includes a leather pet collar, bowl in bone china, and a collar charm, I couldn’t help get that furry feeling.

Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton Vivienne 4 Seasons cups set (HK$ 8,150)

These Louis Vuitton Vivienne 4 Seasons goblets made from white porcelain and painted with LV’s Vivienne mascots in different locations around the world is just something I’d love to have on the table setting - and isn’t the silver-colour rim detail such a classy touch?

Dior

And for my 7-year-old girl who loves anything and everything feminine, who has included in her wish list "high heel shoos" this pair of Dior patent calfskin Miss B ballet flats with a woven ribbon is just perfect. I can imagine it will look just as gorgeous with one of her puffy party dresses or with trousers matched with a dainty pea coat.

Cartier

To keep my work desk organised but still decorative - and festive, I'd love this Cartier Panthère de Cartier trinket tray, where I can stash everything from my Airpod case, pens, loose change and accessories.

Lalique

Having a full household, there is almost always cooking going on so we usually have scented candles lit to counter the smell, and indeed, it's just such a wonderful, relaxing aroma to linger about so this Lalique La Nuit candle caught my fancy and definitely deserves a spot in my 2020 Christmas wish list, and it burns for as long as 60 hours. And it certainly does not hurt that it looks beautiful on the coffee table next to your books and ornaments.

This year, the French maison has launched the 2020 Holiday Advent Calendar, (available at HK$630 upon any purchase of Lancôme regular products) and the Festive & Sparkling Christmas Beauty Box (available at HK$695 upon any purchase of products over HK$520). Both kits include signature make-up and skincare products and fragrances. Additionally, Lancôme has created a series of themed gift sets on “youth secrets”, “rejuvenating luminosity”, “French makeup” and “refreshing scent” to make it even easier to find the perfect Christmas gifts for beauty lovers.

Amorepacific

To celebrate its 75th anniversary and global success, South Korean heritage brand Amorepacific has launched a series of gift sets and exclusive treats just in time for Christmas. For a full skin pampering experience, we recommend the Ace Essence Set (HK$5,350), which includes a series of energising and revitalising serums and creams created with the powerful formula that has contributed to the brand's decades-long success.

Natura Bissé

To pamper your skin like never before during the 2020 festive season, Natura Bissé has put together a selection of signature items to restore and improve radiance with an effortless holiday glow. The Christmas kits include the Diamond Extreme & Eye Set (HK$3,625), an energising and cosmetic treatment with lifting effects, and the Inhibit Neck Set (HK$3520), an anti-aging innovating formula.

2020 Christmas Wish Lists: Florence’s Picks

Christmas can be quite a stressful and overwhelming time of year, so let us take one thing off your mind by providing a curated list of some of the - in my opinion - best gifts that would make anyone smile, be it yourself or someone else. Here's my 2020 Christmas wish list

There’s no better feeling than cosying up on the sofa or beside a fireplace during Christmas, and this Hermès Brides de Gala jacquard blanket in wool and cashmere will make you feel as if you’re wrapped in a cloud.

Audemars Piguet x Carolina Bucci

Hand-made KISS bracelets (from $HKD49,000)

Only available at the AP house in Hong Kong, Carolina Bucci’s latest collaboration with Audemars Piguet makes the perfect Christmas gift. Classic, simple and shiny, the hand-made KISS bracelet features Bucci’s signature frosted exterior. To add to the excitement, the bracelet is available in different versions of yellow, pink, white, black and brown gold

Gucci

2020 Christmas Wish List
Marmont mini sequin bucket bag (HK$10,650)

This colourful GG Marmont Paillette puts me straight in the mood to party. A bucket bag with a mini and small shoulder chain covered in sparkling sequins in multi-coloured diagonal stripes of pastel pink, green, gold and silver, the GG Marmont will definitely turn heads.

Theo Fennell

18ct Yellow Gold Rainbow Full Set Band Ring (HK$8200)

British jeweller Theo Fennell specialises in meticulously crafted jewellery using precious materials and gemstones. This Christmas, I’d love to receive this ring made from a variety of gemstones to resemble a rainbow, along with this channel-set gold infinity band.

Four Seasons

2020 Christmas Wish List
Harbour View Suite Living

For those looking for peace and quiet this Christmas, Four Season Hotel Hong Kong’s Harbour View suite is a luxurious place in which to spend the happiest time of the year. The spacious suite is a perfect getaway for a staycation with Hong Kong at your doorstep and a perfect treat to add to my 2020 Christmas wish list.

Saint Laurent

Tie-neck jacquard silk minidress (HK$23,500)

Dior

St Honoré Medium Tote (HK$35,000)

A new essential designed by Maria Grazia Chiuru, Dior’s St Honoré tote embellished with the CD logo is a practical and elegant bag that I can use on multiple occasions, round the clock.

Chloé

2020 Christmas Wish List
Lauren sneaker in glitter (HK$4,600)

Chloé’s glittery Lauren sneakers in silver grey will allow me party until the wee hours. The wave-like edges of the bottom sole also give it a funky touch!
