life and luxuries for a minimalist

With life rolling through like a freight train, it’s important to be able to step back and appreciate the small things. Coffee on the porch on a cool morning, the laughter in the eyes of someone you love, a fragrance the reminds you of home – these small moments let us pause. They give us a deep satisfaction of being only in the moment without distractions, capturing every sensation more intensely than we often allow ourselves. These are the moments we get lost in, a treasure that cannot be met for value. In the fashion industry, it’s easy to get caught up forgetting these moments entirely. Operating at jet speed and surrounding yourself with material items, hunting for the latest fashion trends, and skimming through so much content, it’s easy to become too overloaded for truly soaking everything in. Since starting a luxury fashion blog just a few years back, I have learned how fast those treasured moments can pass you by. Striving to lead an alternative minimalist lifestyle, it has become an important part …

I know we’re not supposed to

There are some things which are hard to let go of. Grasping onto whatever strands may be in reach, whether for love or hate, out of desperation or hope – there is something in our nature that resists parting with something that we were once in position of. Material things, people, a grudge, a lifestyle, a memory, a dream. As they pull farther away, our reach lengthens and our grip tightens to fight the loss. In some spaces, this action can be a beautiful thing. Fighting for people we love, hanging on to hope for a better day, believing in a dream – it’s a strength. A willingness to not let go, a pull towards something better or something we hope to achieve, the grip is persistence, and it builds character and personal development. It can also be a crutch. Hanging on to toxic memories, resentment, useless things, scar tissue, the past – it can be a fetter binding us to things which are better to let go of. The grip becomes sweaty, anxious and …

hold on to your hats

Life is a sort of rollercoaster – ups, downs and plenty of twists between. You can never see the end until you get there, and that’s part of the thrill. Hold on to your hats ladies and gents, you’re in for a ride. Here’s a little peak into what’s been going down this week. Currently ‘en route home from NYC after spending the week working the showroom at FFaNY, I’ve managed to snag a few moments of shut-eye and catch up on a couple lingering projects. Now, time to catch up in my social circle and the fashion blog; excited to share a little bit of recent happenings with you guys. NYC held its old charm, starting with afternoons spent rooftop with cocktails in hand, and ending with some exciting business progressions working on our Spring 2019 line of women’s shoes. Can you guess what was the best part? ;) After last month’s trip into Milan and Switzerland with the design team, it was exciting to see some of the conversation pieces come to life …

23 minimal styles featured on ELLE

What’s up blogosphere, super excited to share with you guys some recent press on ELLE Greece! Noticed a pop in site visits, and when I checked it out, I may have lost my mind a bit over the heading “If you like the minimal style do not miss these 23 combinations” featuring 23 looks exclusively from my Instagram account. “Fashion & travel blogger Kristina, manager of dayinmydreams.com, uses white, black and gray to create simple but sexy sets that inspire you to make your own combinations using the same slim palette in a cute way.” – ELLE Greece Since starting a fashion blog just about 3 years back, I never could have imagined a renowned fashion publication like ELLE would ever even notice a small-city blogger like myself. I’m grateful and humbled by you guys and the blessings that have been poured down. It’s been an incredible journey, and I just wanted to post a quick message to say thank you all tremendously for your love and support. You have no idea how inspiring you …

how to prepare yourself for the holidays – meal planning, holiday checklist, and more

It happens every year, yet somehow we’re never prepared. It’s holiday season. There are strings of lights tangled in every corner of the house, flour from your mishap-baking project covering the entire kitchen, smoke rises as the turkey burns to a dry lug in the oven, and half-wrapped presents lay concealed under your dirty laundry in the bedroom. Sound familiar? It’s tough to survive the holidays. Especially if you’re balancing a job, family school – or like me balancing being a fashion blogger with another full time career. If life wasn’t pleasantly chaotic enough, someone decided to put Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, school registration, end-of-year reports, 4th quarter deadlines and your dog’s stomach flue all in the same few weeks. Not well planned. Not well planned at all. Thankfully, you can be. I’ve found the key to surviving the holidays is all about three things: planning, organization, and maintaining a level of sanity with a healthy lifestyle. It’s amazing the perspective you can have if you actually manage to get that early start for once. …

when a warm breeze blows

A week of nothing to do but soak in bliss. A stretch of sandy beaches, pina colada in hand, and endless tacos on the horizon. It’s vacation in Mexico! The latest adventure: outskirts of Cancun with a crew of 10 for the week. Welcome to the cabana life. All-inclusive is definitely the way to go, and there was no shortage of champagne and cocktails on our 10 day adventure in Cancun at the Sandos Caracol Eco Resort. A moment to breath fresh, unworried air – priceless. photography:FRIENDS | camera:iPHONE 6 | shorts:ONE TEASPOON | statement necklace c/o:STICKS + STONES | sunglasses:RAYBAN | marble bag c/o:LUXE BLOGGER | perfume c/o:MAISON MARGIELA Beach essentials for the trip: some statement jewelry courtesy of Sticks + Stones along with a new scent by Maison Margiela and of course – go-to RayBan sunnies. Advise for beach-centric vacations – don’t over pack. The likelihood of you changing out of a swimsuit and cover more than 1-2 times are little to none. Instead, focus on swimwear and lightweight pieces that work well over a …
