the anti new year’s resolution with grana activewear

Sticking with your New Year’s resolutions? Giving up pizza and chocolate, going to the gym and waking up to do your hair every morning? There’s a lot of pressure in following up with your first-of-the-year zeal. And a bit of pressure can be good. It keeps you motivated – pushing for a goal. It inspires you to be better, the best version of yourself. Too much pressure on the other hand does nothing more than leave you frustrated from over zealous goals. Finding balance is what truly leads to success in your endeavors. That’s why I’ve joined with Grana in spreading a different approach to fitness with their brand new line of activewear. Their mission: timeless styles, and a healthy lifestyle by setting your own pace. photography:BRITNEY LEIGH PHOTOGRAPHY | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | sport crop c/o:GRANA | activewear leggings c/o:GRANA   #setyourownpace is Grana’s campaign to end needless New Year’s frustrations by encouraging people to live healthier at a pace they can keep up with. eating clean for 21 days with the organic, vegan Veestro challenge

Disclaimer: I’m not by any means a vegan, and though I try to eat healthy for the most part, there’s not much I can do about resisting a 12oz ribeye and stack of macaroni and cheese. I’m only human after all. I do however, my best at purchasing only organic foods when they’re available, and try to stick to what I would consider a clean diet (non-processed foods). Veggies are at the top of my food pyramid, and aside from water and wine – a cold pressed juice or sparkling kombucha are my go-to drinks of choice. The biggest hurdle in sticking to a healthy diet – limit on time. Sure when I cook I incorporate fresh greens, lean meats and a well balanced array of nutrients (don’t we all at least try to do that?). But working a full-time job, balancing the blog and a personal life makes health and fitness another task that’s difficult to always pencil in. That’s why I was excited when I friend of mine reached out and introduced Veestro. …

new years resolutions 101 and how to stick with them

Just kidding, if I had the answer to that I’d have flat 6 pack abs from a rigorous active routine, be juicing every morning, and actually be taking the time to do my hair on weekdays. Let’s face it, we all struggle with meeting the expectations that are put on us by friends, family, coworkers and worse – ourselves. And there’s no other time that’s more apparent than New Years. Somehow inspired by the unmarked calendar, people gaze steadily forward. Sure that this time, they’re going to follow through. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not discouraging you. In fact, New Year’s is one of my favorite holidays as it represents a fresh start, new beginnings and yes – New Years resolutions. I quite savor the time of year to look forward with an untarnished canvas laying before me. But it’s important to remember amidst your ambitions, not to get lost in trying to become someone whom we are not, or becoming discouraged when we fail. Though I can admit to often falling in line with …

let the sweat roll

Something about a breaking a heavy sweat feels deliciously refreshing. Like your pores have been fighting a drawn out battle, and finally gave way to the rush of your body’s energy flow. And while I would like to boast these droplets of fallen soldiers are from putting in a full day’s over-due workout… it’s actually mostly from the heat. photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | sport bra c/o:TITIKA | activewear short c/o:TITIKA | joggers c/o:TITIKA | athleisure dress c/o:TITIKA | althleisure shoes:ADIDAS ORIGINALS | pebble leather bag c/o:STATUS ANXIETY Deceivingly scorching for it’s bright appearance, this studio would have been perfect – if only it weren’t 90° without proper ventilation. I’ll be back in the fall. In the mean time, at least I look like I’m practicing some intense moves. And while this shot was mostly for the sake of the show – I have actually been getting this butt back into the gym, and proud to say the routine is (mostly) back on track. Coming from previous years of 90 min Bikram sessions …
