Stella McCartney Teams Up With Fashion Powerhouse LVMH
Word on the street is that French luxury and fashion giant LVMH will buy a minority stake in Stella McCartney's design house, which has cut ties with LVMH'S fierce rival, Kering, after 17 years. LVMH confirmed the news that Stella McCartney, daughter of iconic Beatle Paul and designer of her eponymous fashion label since 2001, will "continue as creative director and ambassador for her brand while holding majority ownership".
The deal will help "accelerate the worldwide development" of the company, LVMH said, adding that further details on the deal would be forthcoming later this year.
Stella McCartney -- noted for her environmental credentials and concerns -- will also become a "special adviser" to LVMH head Bernard Arnault on sustainable development policies, the company added. LVMH is the world's biggest luxury and fashion company, which Arnault has built up steadily in rivalry with Francois Pinault's Kering group.

[inline-quote author="Bernard Arnault, Chief Executive of LVMH"]"I am extremely happy with this partnership with Stella. It is the beginning of a beautiful story together, and we are convinced of the great long-term potential of her (company)."[/inline-quote]
"A decisive factor was that she was the first to put sustainability and ethical issues on the front stage, very early on, and built her (company) around these issues," he added.
Stella McCartney said that since her decision to quit the Kering tie-up and take back control of her company, there had been many approaches "from various parties expressing their wish to partner and invest."
"While these approaches were interesting, none could match the conversation I had with Bernard Arnault and his son Antoine," she said.

Look to the relaxed drape of tulle and gossamer silks for the height of summer, when everyone feels languid and only the most ethereal looks will do.

Stella McCartney Launches the Women Spring 2020 and Men SS20 Collections in a Zero-Waste Event
On June 14 in Milan, eco-friendly luxury brand Stella McCartney presented the new women's spring and men's spring/summer 2020 ready-to-wear collections in a private garden in Milan’s cinque vie neighbourhood. The collections blur the lines between masculine and feminine, exploring the relationship between the Stella woman and man in 36 looks on models. A collective of student activists hosted a peaceful protest at the event, helping to raise awareness of climate change with messages like "hopeful" and "we are entirely free to live differently".
Zero-Waste, Recycled Decorations
The space was alive with the Stella spirit, filled with upcycled ribbons made from archival fabric that could be personalised with messages to loved ones, and a giant moon to illuminate the space. These fabrics will then be donated to students at a local design school to ensure that there is zero waste. Guests enjoyed a margarita bar, musical entertainment from an Italian street band San Crispino and exclusive performances from up-and-coming artists Tkay Maidza and Oscar Jerome.
Women Spring 2020 Collection
Titled "Force for Nature", the women’s spring 2020 collection projects a strong-hearted woman who cares about the future of our planet. The "We are the Weather" capsule furthers this defiant message of activism with poetic phrases by author and environmentalist Jonathan Safran Foer. Horses dance across luxurious dresses, and acidic botanicals are punched out with modern colour-blocking. Powerful minimalism is injected by quintessential Stella classics, while utility is modernised in refreshing spring colour.
Men Spring 2020 Collection
The men’s SS20 collection unites the many facets of the Stella Man under the same defiant activist spirit, also featuring messages by Jonathan Safran Foer. Juxtaposing classicism and activism, shirts are spliced with bold prints and utilitarian pieces are finished with smart shoes. An unexpected take on camouflage, a standout jumpsuit is printed with an all-over Earth satellite print, while tailoring blurs the lines between formal and casual.
With over 60% of both the women’s and men’s collections made from sustainable materials, pieces uphold Stella’s eco ethos and commitment to a more circular future. The women’s spring 2020 collection will be available in stores from November, while the men’s spring/summer collection will be available from December onwards.
