he growing obsession with wellness has mutated from what was once a craze to what we now consider as part of our daily lifestyle. From plant-based diets and beauty supplements to clean and green beauty brands, the unstoppable wellness train has done us good. And the word around town right now is probiotics – the gut-healthy factor has gone beyond the digestive system to our skincare.

Comprising five products to be used alone or together, Primary is food for the skin. Just as in traditional Chinese medicine or homeopathy, the concept is all about balance. For Valmont, that means infusing good bacteria into our routine. These peacekeeping elements maintain the skin’s pH at an optimal level by breaking down irritants and converting the molecules into healthy good bacteria byproducts that feed the skin.

Using ultra-high-temperature (UHT) sterilisation, every Primary product is contamination free. The process eliminates all microorganisms, leaving the product entirely natural and allowing us to reap maximum benefit.

Benefit California Kissin' Colour Balm

We have been shielded behind our surgical masks for some time now, but with restrictions finally loosening up we can finally (or at least, begin to) revert back to the good old days. Fulfilling the need for hydration and colour this season, Benefit's new lip balm comes in a burst of 12 vibrant shades for summer fun. Extremely lightweight and hydrating thanks to loofah seed oil, the lips are nourished and hydrated for hours. One layer gives a natural-looking sheen, but when layered, can appear to be almost as pigmented as lipstick itself (without the drying effect). Personally, I’m enjoying the berry tone that adds a touch of colour while still appearing very natural and light.

There’s no getting around sweat and grime in the peak of summer and with that, exfoliation needs to be thorough and frequent. I've started to exfoliate once or twice a week after workouts. Sweat opens your pores so you can get a deeper cleanse and rid all impurities this way. I can control the cleanse with Tatcha's The Rice Polish Calming (HK$600) and add more or less water depending on the exfoliation I need.

So much has launched in 2019. But my favourite find has to be the Valmont Teint Majestuex Satin Glow Foundation (HK$1,650). What I love most about it is that it's a hybrid between make-up and skincare offering a glowy satin-like finish without drying out the skin. It also works great with the Poudre de Teint Précieuse compact powder (HK$1,380) when I need to touch up on too much shine.

When it comes to Canvas, I can find no fault. All its products are at least 90 percent natural and organic, so I can rest easy knowing they won't irritate my very sensitive skin. I'm especially fond of the Rose Otto collection.

Depending on when you ask me this, my answer will probably change. But I'm currently obsessing over Sunday Riley's Luna Sleeping Night Oil (HK$450). A winning combo of retinol and blue tansy, the oil works through the night to reduce fine lines, the appearance of pores and redness. I also like that the formula is grease-proof and absorbs into your skin (rather than your pillowcase).

I would recommend the Aesop body range to anyone regardless of their skin type. The cleansers are gentle on the skin thanks to the nourishing botanical ingredients and are suitable year-round. Its Geranium Leaf Body Cleanser (HK$325) and Body Scrub (HK$260) are my top choices -- the fresh pine-needle and sage scent really wakes me up.

But I will say that I've been eyeing the 111Skin Rose Gold Radiance Booster (HK$895) and any of its masks for some time now. If it's good enough for Margot Robbie, Kim Kardashian and Priyanka Chopra, I can live with it. When we were tasked to go through hundreds and hundreds of products to find the ultimate best ones for this year’s Prestige Beauty and Wellness Awards, we all had in mind a few names that we thought would make the cut based off of each editor’s personal routine. It’s no secret that we (and the rest of the world) look towards the beauty capital that is South Korea for our skin goals. And when the masters of skincare came up with the “glass skin” trend -- an almost translucent complexion and luminous glow that seems to radiate from within -- a few years back, we were hooked. This season, it's returned in a big way. After all, who doesn’t want a gleamingly clear, poreless, dewy complexion?

So for those of you that are ready to get on board, here’s our step-by-step guide to achieving glass skin:

1. Double Cleanse

It all starts with a clean canvas. Beautiful skin is healthy skin, so hygiene is top priority. Begin with an oil cleanser that dissolves away impurities and stubborn makeup. 5. Protect

Nothing damages the skin more than UV, regardless of the weatherman’s prediction for sunny, overcast or thunderstorm days. A good offence is a good defence so an SPF barrier is a must. For our climate, SPF50 is a good benchmark. 6. Colour correct

Be careful in what you select, as not all products are going to work for the glass look. Clearly, avoid any matte formulas, and turn to water-based formulas such as NARS Sheer Glow Foundation.
